WATCH: 124 cats trapped in the Ukraine war zone urgently need our help. As Russians advance, people are forced to flee, often leaving their pets behind to fend for themselves as bombs explode and bullets fly. Our partner, Animal Rescue Kharkiv (ARK), is one of the few teams that risks it all on the frontlines to save the tragic animal victims of this horrific war. With 124 abandoned cats, the team is now ready to launch an emergency rescue mission - but the deteriorating roads and constant Russian attacks have severely damaged all of their vehicles. We desperately need to repair at least three of their bullet-ridden vehicles, so they can save the cats who are stuck on the frontline with no one else to turn to. Find out more about the challenges our partner faces and donate as soon as possible so we can begin these vital repairs: https://bit.ly/NFA_UKCA09L. ?? #NetworkforAnimals #NFA #NFAWar #UkraineWar. #Ukraine #UkraineCrisis #Kharkiv #UkraineAnimals #AnimalRescue #AnimalWelfare #CatRescue #PetRescue #WarZone #HumanitarianCrisis #AnimalRescueKharkiv #ARK #EmergencyRescue #AbandonedCats #SaveTheCats #HelpUkraineAnimals #SupportAnimalRescue #AnimalRescueStories

Now this is progress towards a shift in thinking.
?? Victory! It is now illegal across the state of Florida to intentionally release balloons into the sky—which ultimately end up hurting or killing marine wildlife. This is a big win for our ocean, marine animals and ecosystems, coastal communities and the entire Sunshine State. Thank you to everyone who took action and called on Florida, and states across the country, to put a stop to balloon litter. Read our statement: https://lnkd.in/evAwFCZu

?? “The Tiger ??, the lion and the panther ?? are harmless animals. Instead, chickens??, geese and ducks ??, they are highly dangerous animals – a worm ?? said to his children-” ?? Bertrand Russell A risky task (Lion ?? or Tiger ??) for you might not be a threat to others (Worm ??), whereas a normal task for you (Chicken?? or Duck??) might be a Threat to others (Worm??) What is a threat for you might not be a threat for others and vice versa, it depends on your #goal, #objective, #perspective, #position, #interest and how external tasks/Stakeholders are impacting you

?? In this life, you can choose to be kind or cruel. Simple. It is an option. If you pause long enough to ask yourself, have I been cruel? What side have I chosen? Then, you'll be faced with the inexorable task of questioning the cultural norms you have inherited and #traditions you've invited to persuade you. It's not easy, but there's an extraordinary superpower we (as humans) all have in our unique capacity to unlearn the lessons we've been taught. ?? You've been taught cruelty from day one, persistently. You've been taught to be cruel to everything non-human. The education of cruelty has been so complete and intense that you've never been taught the alternative. Cruelty is clever enough to masquerade as harmless, if not joyous when cloaked in our cultures and traditions. And once undetected, it will gleefully prance around in the most festive ways. Beyond normalization, cruelty has been codified and celebrated. ???? In a simple way, you could have been cruel while not choosing cruelty, as you've been denied choice. But you can take your choice back. Beyond culture and tradition, we all have the power to expand consciousness to discover and design new ways of being in the world while sacrificing nothing and benefiting everything and everyone. That is a truly remarkable and powerful thing; don't deny yourself that by obeying those who insist on your cruelty. ?? Just leave animals alone; be kind. Side Note: I have friends in this space, so know that this message is not directed at you/them—we reserve the right and pleasure of reasoning while breaking bread. Instead, it is a broader message of encouragement to all of us to examine the world around us critically. #BeKind #FreeEverything #AnimalLiberation #TotalLiberation #UniversalLiberation #Culture #Rodeo
This is footage I filmed documenting a common rodeo event called calf roping. In the event, cowboys lasso calves around their neck, snapping their heads back as they come to an abrupt halt. The calves’ bodies are then slammed to the ground, and their legs are tied together. Many calves have been documented suffering broken bones, crushed skulls, snapped spines, and death in the arena. Rodeos are in the business of animal exploitation — subjecting helpless animals to unnecessary suffering for commercial entertainment.

Today is Remembrance Day. As we remember the people who lost their lives, were injured and had their lives permanently altered during wartime, we must also remember all of the animals who experienced immense suffering and death during human-created conflicts that were imposed upon them. From bees and mosquitoes to elephants and whales, we remember the countless animals of far too many species who suffered and died either directly or indirectly because of war. Here are just a few examples of animals who were used in combat: - Pigeons were used for communication to carry messages. - Cats were not only mascots, but were also used to keep the soldiers' food supplies safe from rodents. - Dogs were used in areas such as combat, tracking, guarding, mine detection and medical experimentation. - Canaries were used to detect poisonous gas. - Horses, mules, donkeys and camels were used to carry ammunition, water, food, medical supplies and the wounded. Wildlife, farm animals, zoo animals and family pets who were not involved in direct combat also suffered and died. To cite a couple of examples, it's estimated that 750,000 family pets were killed in Britain alone at the start of the Second World War over fears of food shortages and air raids. And approximately 58,000 whales were killed during the First World War for their oil that was used in order for soldiers to keep fighting. We remember and give our gratitude to the animals who suffer and die during wartime through no fault of their own. Lest we forget. "[Calves] are forced to run at speeds in excess of 25 miles per hour when roped. The reason they run at such high speeds is that they are tormented in the holding chute: their tails are twisted, their tails are rubbed back and forth over the steel chute bars, and they are shocked with 5000-volt electric prods until the gate opens. They burst out of the chute at top speed only to be stopped short – or “clotheslined” – with a choking rope around the neck. They are often injured, and some are killed. It is also the case that rodeo calf ropers must spend a great deal of time practicing in order to become proficient. Calves sold to practice pens are roped over and over until they are injured or killed. Dr. T. K. Hardy, a veterinarian who was also a calf roper, was quoted in Newsweek, stating that calf roping is an expensive sport, and that two or three calves are injured per practice session and must be replaced. As a pathologist and former meat inspector, I believe my colleagues when they report horrendous injuries to rodeo cattle. Dr. C. G. Haber--a veterinarian with thirty years of experience as a USDA meat inspector--says, "The rodeo folks send their animals to the packing houses where...I have seen cattle so extensively bruised that the only areas in which the skin was attached was the head, neck, legs, and belly. I have seen animals with six to eight ribs broken from the spine and at times puncturing the lungs. I have seen as much as two and three gallons of free blood accumulated under the detached skin." Source: Dr. Peggy Larson, DVM https://lnkd.in/ed2GRnia Not only are these sentient creatures who can feel pain and suffer just like our dogs and cats, but they are babies. Traditions can and should evolve. At any time, we have the ability to make different choices, even if we’ve supported or participated in something before. Our capacity to think critically and act on new information is the mark of an intelligent species and when we, as humans, are at our very best.
