The Holyrood Climate Action summit returns to Edinburgh in a decisive year for the future of Scotland’s climate targets. The summit will once again partner with the Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN), and Edinburgh Climate Change Institute (ECCI) to explore on–the–ground solutions and innovations for how Scotland’s public sector can decarbonise. Across two days, the themes of leadership for success and funding decarbonisation will be showcased through local case studies. Delegates from the public sector will be joined by the private and third sectors will hear from leading voices from across the Scottish climate action space to exchange best practice and practical insights on how Scotland’s public sector can reach its decarbonisation targets. Carbon Futures director, David Russell, will feature as a panellist during an afternoon session which will address the practical measures that are needed to increase the speed of change in Scotland. The expert panel will explore how climate resilient design (such as Passivhaus design and archetypes), retrofitting, and low carbon heating solutions could create a template for sustainable homes. ?? Dublin's patchwork quilt of governance is a block to climate resilience and good urban planning including in housing, transport and services. We've four local authorities, and four climate action plans, for what is in European terms a small urban region across city and county Dublin. I wrote this piece below on Medium a year ago - but more than ever we need a connected and coordinated city. The Citizen's Assembly on Dublin Report is heading for two years out this December and yet nothing has been done to act on it. If we're serious about improving Dublin, addressing issues like housing, climate and transport, we need to take it off the shelf, dust it down and begin work. #Dublin #CitizensAssembly #housing #climate

Breana Wheeler, BREEAM’s US Director of Operations, recently joined experts Mike Williams and Hamoda Youssef of ClimateFirst Building Solutions; Kathryn Bakos of Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation | Centre Intact d’adaptation au climat; and Nicole Engels of?ClimateCheck for ClimateFirst Building Solutions’ webinar, “Adapting Commercial Real Estate to Climate Change: Strategies for Managing Risk.” The session explored strategies to identify, assess, and manage physical climate risks in real estate. During the conversation, Breana discussed BREEAM’s mission of applying science to address built environment challenges, emphasizing that a key factor in BREEAM’s growth has been our work alongside GRESB focusing on categories like resiliency.
