I applaud the NWF for recognizing the need for grid resiliency and improvement. There is a delicate balance between sustainability, environmental concerns, and safe, reliable electricity. Partnerships are where we will make the most inroads to this important need for balance.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission announced their final rule that will center the needs and priorities of Tribes, environmental justice communities, and landowners in their decision-making. While more work needs to be done, this is a great step in the right direction to ensure renewable energy can be moved to where it needs to go, while protecting the rights of people and wildlife! Have you been supporting the Unblocktober campaign? If not, why not? Sewer blockages are largely avoidable. And they harm communities, the environment, your pocket, and reputations when they happen. That's why in October and all year round, we work with clients to make sure they're environmentally compliant and are helping to save our sewers and seas. #Unblocktober #EnvironmentalCompliance #Sustainability

????? Ensuring a Sustainable Future for District 90! ????? I firmly believe that safeguarding our environment isn't just a duty; it's our legacy to the next generation. That's why I've been tirelessly championing initiatives to protect our air, water, and land. We must reduce pollution, and take action to produce clean energy and reduce our reliance on oil, gas and coal. Here's a snapshot of what I’ve delivered during my six years of public service at the State House: ? More than doubled resources to $7.6 million for to the Solid Waste Trust Fund for recycling, composting, and scrap tire cleanup after the passing the 2020 Constitutional Amendment that mandated that impact fees fund environmental trust funds directly. ? Successfully fought for cleaner energy alternatives by pausing tax credits for energy-hog data centers, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. ? Secured $250 million for water and sewer projects through the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority, enhancing local infrastructure. ? Successfully fought for financing for local infrastructure projects to prepare communities for climate change challenges, promoting resilience. ? Successfully fought to stop industrial farm waste dumping, or “phony fertilizer”, helping save our fish and wildlife ? Sponsored legislation for additional ‘green fleets,” to increase electric vehicles in state and county automotive fleets. ? Co-sponsored the Georgia Environmental Justice Act to address environmental racism and empower local communities. ? Sponsored the Georgian’s First Fund, which would help make utilities more affordable for our families, help our low-income families invest in clean energy, help our low-income families prepare for climate change by making their homes more energy-efficient, and require a healthy financial investment by fossil fuel companies. ? Partnered with organizations like New Life Community Alliance and Science for Georgia for the Environmental Justice Take Action series, including community listening sessions and action events like our Ormewood Forest clean-up. Together, we're combating pollution, advocating for clean energy, and paving the way towards a greener, healthier Georgia. Let's continue this journey towards 100% renewables by 2050 and beyond! #BeckyDelivers #BuildingABetterGeorgiaTogether #GreenGeorgia #Sustainability #CleanEnergyNow ??????

This #WorldEnvironmentDay, we showcase our significant strides in driving environmental sustainability through innovative #water treatment solutions. The case study of Plant III, RO system in Charleston County, South Carolina, underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering a greener future amidst population growth and escalating water demands. With the installation of our #ESPA2-LD MAX elements, Plant III witnessed remarkable enhancements in its #RO system. These cutting-edge elements, having a larger membrane surface area and thicker feed spacer, facilitated higher permeate production, minimized fouling, and reduced energy consumption, while maintaining exceptional #water quality standards. Our innovative approach not only resulted in tangible environmental benefits but also yielded significant cost savings for the plant. With a 21% decrease in annual energy costs and an additional 63 million gallons of water produced annually, the impact speaks volumes. On this World Environment Day, we celebrate our environmental leadership and renew our collective commitment to sustainability. Together, let's pave the way for a brighter, more #sustainable future. I was honored to join New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, members of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO), Veolia employees and other officials to celebrate the launch of the new Hubgrade center at the New Orleans East Bank Wastewater Treatment Plant today. For over 30 years, Veolia has been a proud partner to the City of New Orleans and the Sewerage and Water Board. Our enduring relationship, built on trust and a shared vision, has only been strengthened through our collaborative response to challenges, including devastating natural disasters. Throughout our partnership, we've consistently discussed how to transform this vital asset into a force for positive change. As part of our GreenUp strategy, we are consistently finding ways to accelerate the deployment of affordable, replicable solutions that depollute, decarbonize and regenerate our resources. A city like New Orleans, facing unique challenges like rising sea levels and #climatechange, is a prime example of how GreenUp can support a community to develop a high-performing, sustainable wastewater system. The Hubgrade center, the first of its kind in America, represents a significant step towards that goal. By leveraging real-time data and advanced analytics, we can optimize #wastewater treatment for greater efficiency, cost savings, #energy conservation and reduced emissions. This initiative will drive economic growth, enhance quality of life and help build a brighter future for generations to come.

This article is a wonderful overview of the concerns about subsidizing trash incineration as part of Maryland's renewable energy program. Many groups and advocates, including Clean Water Action Progressive Maryland and Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, have worked hard to find better ways to manage waste and subsidize real climate solutions. This should be an easy lift for the Maryland General Assembly, because almost everyone agrees this reform is needed! Jennifer Kunze Senay Emmanuel

While energy is the hot topic in the #digitalinfrastructure world, Prime Data Centers is also focused on water conservation. As part of our enhanced sustainability strategy - https://zurl.co/cUOe - we have added Water Restoration Certificates from Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) equal to 120% of our 2023 operating portfolio consumption. #WRCs directly fund the restoration of at-risk watersheds across the United States for a positive environmental impact. Also, Prime’s integrated, closed-loop mechanical system uses <1% of the water consumed by traditional adiabatic and evaporative cooling systems for near-0 WUE. ?? Let's talk about Leakage! ?? Recently, my friend Sara Toustrup Kristensen sparked a conversation about leaks, knowing my passion for conserving water. She raised important questions about how leaks occur, how they can be detected and fixed, and most importantly, how they can be prevented altogether. Did you know that fixing leaks accounts for about 50% of our NRW project budgets? Jo Parker shed light on this at the #WaterLoss2024 event in San Sebastian last month. By optimizing our network management, we have the power to significantly reduce leakage. This not only allows us to supply more people without straining our water resources even more but also cuts down on energy costs and carbon emissions. It's a win-win situation! ?? So, why aren't we seeing more water loss reduction programs? Addressing leakage isn't just about saving water—it's about ensuring the sustainability of our water systems and preserving this precious resource for future generations. It is an investment. Let's prioritize leakage prevention and invest in solutions that will safeguard our water supply and environment! ?? ?? ?? ??
