If your LinkedIn comments were a talent show audition... Surprisingly enough, they sort of are. With each comment you craft, you're not just engaging: ?? You're auditioning for new connections. ?? You're auditioning for fresh opportunities. ?? You're auditioning for meaningful dialogue. And here's the kicker: the response is immediate. The top comments not only impress the judges (the post's author) but also captivate the audience (through replies). Quality comments boost your standing, visibility, and esteem among your peers. Commenting is essentially a grand global stage where every voice can resonate. So, the question remains: Are you "stealing the spotlight"? Or are you merely blending into the background amidst a crowd of contenders? Food for thought... P.S. This post was inspired by reminiscing about American Idol. Just out of curiosity, what's your preferred "talent show"? Feel free to engage with your favorite post in the comments! --- If you found value in these insights, consider sharing them with your network. We're all eagerly waiting to see if Taylor Swift can make it back from Tokyo in time for Superbowl 2024. ??♀? Imagine creating that same level of anticipation and attention for your presentation or pitch. Good news, you can! Pregame by identifying the critical takeaways and condensing them into one compelling sentence. Share that with your audience to get them to grab a seat. Kick-off with a winning grabber that captures attention and sparks curiosity. Whether it's a captivating story, analogy, or example, make it a crowd-pleaser. Explain how your talk is a game-changer for them. Lay out the game plan, including when halftime hits and who's taking the stage. If you've got a presentation that matters, reach out. I'll share the playbook. Until then, enjoy the game, snacks, and commercials this weekend. ??

Recently, I was invited back onto Triple A Murri Country to yarn with Let's Talk The Art's host (and friend) Rachael Sarra about Collaborations from a blak lens, which is super topical at the moment, with the collab landscape shifting and changing for both better and worse. Give it a listen for good insights ?? and a bit of tea ?? Here are a few takeaways to approach collabs/engagement in good ways: ?? Invest in relationship capital, make sure it is mutually beneficial ? Collaborations shouldn't have a predicted outcome, let the process determine the outcome and make something unique ?? Be upfront and honest with the budget and know the industry standard to pay appropriately, exposure and opportunity don't pay the rent ?? Be transparent and flexible with IP, contracts, the project (end to end) and profit share (true collaboration) ?? Be value driven – are you doing the collaboration to be performative or does it truly align with your brand/company ?? Be grateful and nurture the opportunity to work with First Nation creatives (and any creative), as it is their name you are benefitting from ?? Is your brand safe? Will the creative be exposed to negative audiences? And how will you mediate it and protect the creative? ?? Be a 'standard setter' for the future generation of blak creatives, not the warning for bad collaborations Comment any questions or additional points to add to good collaborations!

And the crowd goes wild. ?? Opening night. It only comes once. Always exciting. Always raw. Performers are full of anticipation. Ready to fully engage you with a performance that appears effortless. Hoping their training, hard work, and practice will take you to a magical place away from your reality. The curtain rises, and it's go time. The room is dark. The bright stage lights only reveal the first few rows of the audience. But the performers can feel it's a packed house. The atmosphere is electric. Audience expectations run high. Everyone knows the reviews will be critical to the success of the show. No matter our profession, we all face opening night every day, with unseen faces in the crowd of onlookers. They're real people seeking a message or solution that resonates with them and solves their problems. No performance is the same. They all have their flaws and nuances that add color and personality. Imperfections connect us. We're drawn to authenticity. We inherently trust it. Be prepared to give the best, even if it's not perfect. There's an audience for that! ?? Have you considered adding the value of voiceover to your marketing and advertising campaigns? How about your website? I can help you with that! ?? Always at your service! ?? #openingnight #voiceover #marketing #voiceoverartist #advertisingandmarketing

Usher shut down the #SuperBowl halftime show, but he also gave us a quick lesson on leveraging the moment! Let's do a deep dive: 1?? OPPORTUNITY: He extended his Las Vegas residency to perform for another year once he learned the Super bowl was going to be there. With viral moments like his Tiny Desk performance in 2022 and countless sold out shows during his residency, Usher proved to everyone that he still has it. 2?? PERSONAL BRANDING: He instantly attached himself to the Super Bowl's brand, so the demand for him to be in advertisements skyrocketed. Leading up to and during the Super Bowl, Usher was present in brand's ads who looked to be culturally relevant. 3?? PRODUCTIZE: Continuing to relish the moment, Usher dropped a new album, "Coming Home" on Friday (two days before his Super Bowl performance). It only makes sense to release new music when people are actively looking you up and streaming your music in preparation for the big performance. 4?? NOSTALGIA & CULTURAL STORYTELLING: He blazed the stage last night with hits from our childhood and early adult days. Usher made us remember a specific time in life while giving the world a lesson on Black culture and Atlanta culture. As he said, "I brought the world to the A!" 5?? CONVERSION: Tickets to Usher's upcoming tour go on sale today (if you didn't already get yours during the pre-sale). He's converting some of the added attention into $$$ with his tour. The Super Bowl had 115+ million eyes on it. Imagine 5% of those eyes looking to buy a ticket to his show ?? When your moment comes, take advantage like Usher. He didn't just perform. He made it a peak moment in his career. ?? What was your favorite moment during Usher's performance? ? If you love this post, please repost and share with your network. It helps get my writing out there. I write about #mediaandtech, #marketing, and #mindset. Thank you! #mediaandentertainment #culture #multiculturalmarketing #personalbranding #storytelling #attentioneconomy

As Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' graces the screens*, it's a shimmering reminder of how powerful anticipation can be in content strategy. This isn't just a concert film; it's a cultural event that fans have marked in their calendars, counting down the days (this can't be just me right? Right??). Why does this matter in the world of content? It's simple: Taylor knows the art of creating a 'moment'. Her release is more than just content; it's an experience wrapped in the nostalgia of a 'Cardigan' and the excitement of new renditions. The Swift effect? Content that tells a story, content that has a heartbeat. That's the golden ticket. Whether it’s B2B or B2C, the lesson here is crystal clear: content that people look forward to consuming is content that creates moments and memories. So, as we gear up to dive into 'The Eras Tour', let's think about how our content can leave our audience eagerly saving dates. Ready to sparkle like Taylor? ? *Save the Date (if you haven't already!): March 15th is about to become a Swifties' delight on Disney+ #ContentStrategy #TaylorSwift #DisneyPlus #TheErasTour #EventMarketing #SaveTheDate ?? image credit: My Instagram friend Taylor Swift ??

I take pride in helping voice actors create transformative demos that showcase their unique talent. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of working with Phil Cantone on his voice-over demo, and the results were fantastic! Phil was looking to get back into voice over after spending some time away. Together we crafted a demo that highlights his versatility and range, from energetic commercial reads to heartfelt narrations. The transformation was incredible, and Phil has been landing more auditions and jobs since. The demo production process focuses on three key principles: 1. Repeatable: Ensuring that the demo showcases your skills in a way that you can consistently replicate. 2. Believable: Creating authentic reads that connect with the audience. 3. Goal-Focused: Tailoring the demo to achieve specific career goals, whether it’s landing more auditions or securing high-profile gigs. Check out Phil Cantone’s demo below to hear the quality for yourself! And if you're ready to take your voice-over career to the next level, drop me a line and let’s create a demo that truly represents your skills and sets you apart from the competition! ???? https://lnkd.in/gfkY69pj

I saw this post today from a radio industry veteran, Jimmy Steal. It's about how Taylor Swift took back control of her career and since taking that control back, has advanced her career from Pop Star to Pop Icon. She's arguably more famous today than Michael Jackson or the Beatles (depending on who you listen to). All because she didn't let someone control her music. She struck out to control her music and free herself from the constraints of others. In my career, I've gone through so much adversity. In 2000, I lost my opportunity to grow Netmix into Soundcloud or Mixcloud when the market crashed and our parent company went out of business. Over the next 19 years, I struggled to figure out what I could do with my Netmix brand. In 2019, I found the Radio Station plugin for WordPress, which was dormant. I contacted the developer. She asked if I wanted to take it over. I said YES! With no plan, no developer, and no backing, I took it over and have since built it up again with the help of my development partner, Tony Hayes, who I found after he answered a post in a WordPress forum, into a freemium WordPress plugin, Radio Station PRO. It was dying a slow death and I revived it with vision, passion, and commitment to an idea. I have no backers. I have no investors. I have no other help outside of Tony's hard work and commitment to the idea. We have revenue and its growing. From nothing to something. Don't let the naysayers stop you. Don't let the ideas die a slow death. Just get started. Do something. It's been 3 1/2 years since I took over Radio Station for WordPress. It's growing incrementally. We have more customers for PRO today than the ZERO we started with. Over 100+. It's not huge, but we're niche. We have 2,000+ free users and 20 to 50 free downloads per day. So many folks to convert to PRO and more are on the way. I always said, "An idea is just an idea until you execute it." That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. So, get started. Do you. Do your idea. Don't let anyone else stop you from realizing your goals and your dreams. I tell my 9-year-old every day he can be anything he wants to be. At 57, I can be anything I want to be too. It's never too late. It's only too late if you let them win. If you let them define you and end your story for you.
An incredibly inspirational short video. Swiftie or not, a powerful message about not just overcoming adversity, but building unforeseen success DUE TO the adversity itself! Thank you Scot Finck at Disney for the share of this amazing masterclass from @dailystoic, wow!
