After taking the LSAT, many people are not quite sure what to do next for their law school applications. How to make a list? do the personal statement? This free webinar from The Pre-Law Collaborative provides some guidelines. Live with me and Christine Falcone, LPC, ACS.

Not surprised by the results. They confirm what I hear all the time from readers: where you go to law school for your LLM makes a world of a difference in terms of the larger law school community environment. How do you figure this out during the application stage? Speak with current LLMs at the schools on your shortlist about their own experiences. My goal? In future years, 100% of readers select strongly agree or agree! By default, the LLM experience can never really be exactly like the JD experience. But it can be close and schools can do so much to cultivate an environment where LLms feel just as much a part of the community as JDs!

My regular reminder that the USNWR rankings are not really designed to help foreign-educated lawyers pick their LLM programs. What USNWR focuses on: * JD inputs; * JD outputs; and * Overall prestige of law schools to different voters (to people like me, that’s seen as likely focused on the JD programs) The best choice for you may also happen to be the LLM at the highest ranked law school you get into. It may also not. Instead of relying on a number, I recommend speaking with: * current LLMs at the schools you’re interested in attending about their experiences; * lawyers at the types of places (in the US and abroad) where you’d like to work at after your LLM; and * faculty, staff, and alumni at the schools you’re most interested to learn more about what makes their programs stand out.
