Network Engineering: A Path Less Traveled But Highly Rewarding Some may say - and I'm afraid I have to disagree with it - It's not the most glamorous job in tech. But it sure is vital. Dive into the world of network engineering, where the unseen powerhouses of our digitally driven lives work behind the scenes to keep everything connected. As a seasoned network engineer and a professor in this field, I have enjoyed a career that has never ceased to challenge, intrigue, and ultimately fulfill me. Network engineering isn't just about connecting cables or routers; it's about problem-solving, strategic planning, and ensuring the lifeline of any company – its communication infrastructure – remains intact. In my many years in this field, I have witnessed dramatic changes as technology evolved. We've moved from cabling LANs to orchestrating virtual networks that span continents, making this a tremendously dynamic field to be part of. If you are considering a career in technology, don't overlook network engineering. It's a rewarding path that offers plenty of opportunities for growth and constant learning. Stay connected! #NetworkEngineering #TechnologyCareers #InformationTechnology #careerintech

It's just a title change, right? I've been called a lot of things in my career, some I can't post here, lol. At Cisco though, I've been called a Systems Engineer, Systems Architect and now Solutions Engineer. Been doing the same job the whole time so what's in a title change? The evolution of the role and responsibilities. Technology has evolved. When I started everything I did was systems centric. I'd work on campus networking. Or DC networking. Or servers. Or firewalls. Or collab. One system then the next. I was engineering systems that frankly really weren't designed to work together or integrate. Today every component in technology is more intertwined than ever before. It's no longer good enough to be able to architect and engineer systems. You need to engineer solutions that deliver outcomes. With that said, proud to be a #CiscoSE.
