Second Chances: Why They Matter and Why Some Need More In the US, it is ‘second chances month’, and we thought it is an ideal time to reflect on the significance of offering opportunities for redemption and growth to people with criminal records. At our charity, we firmly believe that everyone deserves a chance to turn their lives around, and that sometimes, a second chance alone may not suffice. When an individual has served their time and paid their debt to society, they often face numerous obstacles that can hinder their successful reintegration. From societal stigma and discrimination to difficulties in securing employment and housing, the path to rebuilding one's life is full of challenges. By providing ex-offenders with the support, resources, and opportunities they need to start anew, we can help break the cycle of recidivism and empower them to become productive members of society, to overcome the barriers they face and create a brighter future for themselves and their families. However, it's important to recognize that the journey of rehabilitation is not always a straightforward one. Some individuals may require more than just a second chance – they may need a third, fourth, or even fifth chance. Life's challenges can be complex and multifaceted, and setbacks can occur despite one's best efforts. At our charity, we understand that the road to redemption is not a one-size-fits-all experience. We meet each individual where they are, offering personalised support and guidance tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. By extending compassion, understanding, and unwavering belief in their potential, we can help them navigate the ups and downs of their journey and ultimately achieve lasting change.

Do you sometimes feel a sense of grey despair at the thought of another family of person being impacted by DV and you don't know what to do? Well, there is a simple solution and inexpensive one - you can help us to strengthen the individuals who choose to make a difference and step into the awful world of DV as true super heroes. It is simple and direct - we're building up the front line with praise to be the generational change in DV. Our Hunt for Hero Awards are unique in that they identify people in the Australian community who are using their personal energy to make a difference and selflessly help others. Unlike other awards, this is a peer-to-peer system that allows people to nominate people, not organisations, and help to shine a light on the person. Over the past 4 years we have met simply amazing people who will humble you with their story and effort. Our job as a charity is to provide some humble prizes to the person (nothing fancy but so they don't go without at Christmas), facilitate an awards ceremony and produce a space to celebrate the strength as we make the social change against DV. Everyone needs praise and these folks are often the unsung heroes of our society. So don't despair! Next time you and your mates are filled with despair at what to do, instead drop $5 in the awards jar and help us to highlight what good humans are doing. We want these front-line warriors of all shapes and sizes to be the headline, not the incidents. Here's the link - drop us a fiver and know you are helping to make a difference today. https://lnkd.in/gegZzPdz

From our Co-Founder, William Galli Through pride we are ever deceiving ourselves. But deep down below the surface of the average conscience a still, small voice says to us, something is out of tune. - Carl Yung Sound familiar? Through pride, are we as a society deceiving ourselves about many aspects of our society? Below the surface of your conscience is that still, small voice saying to you, something is out of tune, and not right. . .in politics, government, economically, and humanely in America? We as a nation, and society need to LISTEN TO THAT STILL, SMALL VOICE! Those of you who are familiar with Choose Charities, know that there're 37.9 million of our fellow citizens living in poverty in America today. 11 million are vulnerable, helpless children, and 1.5 million are our Nation's heroes, our beloved veterans. Our still, small voice is SCREAMING at us because poverty and homelessness in America is not getting better, but worse! Choose Charities Corp has gained a national consensus on this issue, gaining support from thousands upon thousands of people from all walks of life in our society. We thank you! Now, it's time to do more. Go to our website choosecharities.org and view our 10 Step Plan, and join us. Then, go to our Petition From America at the link https://chng.it/9Rv7m52fmf.. and review, and sign our petition that we plan to present to our United States Congress, and national leaders once we obtain 100,000 or more signatures. Our conscience is a God given collection of our thoughts, feelings, and information which emanate from the heart, mind, and soul. Don't you think it's about time we put our foolish pride aside and listen to that still, small voice of reason? #choosecharities #choosechange

Have you ever thought about these scenarios: Being an elderly person faced with having to sell the only home you’ve ever known. Unsure of what lies ahead for you and all of the memories made in your home. Will you re-locate to an assisted living facility or with family? What if the change forces you out of the city or state you’ve grown to love? Being an elderly person on a fixed income that can no longer maintain your home in liveable conditions. Constantly faced with the fears of needed repairs. Unsure of who you can safely reach out to for assistance/resources. Living with the threats of failing health in a failing environment. You’re immediate family reside in another state or city, making support difficult to obtain. Being an elderly person that can no longer live on your own and you have nowhere to go. You are estranged from your family and your friends aren’t able to help you. I’ve experienced each one of those scenarios and was able to bring relief to my client-family. I’m sure you have heard of or experienced similar scenarios with your family or friends. Providing resources and services are costly and that is why I’m asking for your support. Support to ensure that our elderly neighbors are supported through one of the most difficult transitions in life. Please feel free to reach out with any resources and services you can provide. It's coming to the end of my term as Mayor of Elmbridge. One of the most unexpected appointments of my life - it's been brilliant meeting so many extraordinary people and businesses and I wouldn't have missed it for anything. To top it all off, this coming Saturday, I'm jumping out of an aircraft at 10,000 ft. to raise funds for a remarkable local charity https://lnkd.in/e2tE724K which does amazing work for struggling families. I'll be accompanied by two high fliers from the Hilton Cobham and my son in law Benjamin Bobroff. Oasis has opened my eyes... Families can become fragile so easily. A job lost, poor self esteem, solace in alcohol and drugs, poor parenting skills, neurodiversity, illness in the family, violence. Modern day life is so complex and it’s easy to slip between the cracks. According to Relate:? “Broken and unhealthy relationships can lead to debt, loneliness, health problems, depression, homelessness, criminality and can have a profound effect on children’s life chances. Nationally 1 in 4 women are victims of domestic abuse, but in Surrey we have one of the highest rates in the country with 1 in 3 women being subjected to domestic violence and hundreds of children witnessing and being impacted by living in family homes where domestic violence is present. Catastrophic family breakdown knows no boundaries. Race, class, wealth - it’s everywhere, but perhaps in Surrey, it’s just better hidden. So. who picks up the pieces? That’s where Oasis comes in. They work with the people who have no voice - the woman who finally decides that the beatings have to stop, the man who can’t take the ridicule anymore and the children who don’t get heard at all. Oasis helps put people back together. It helps them find lives that are worth living and a place where their children can recover and even thrive. So, if jumping out of an aircraft helps, then I'm up for it (literally). If you fancy donating a few ££ here's the page: https://lnkd.in/eaE2vV2Q

Ahead of Matthew's run to every Premier League stadium we wanted to highlight why he, you, and local businesses, are coming together for Mission 135. Mission 135's goal is to raise £405,000 across Club 135, Network 135, and Team 135. Of course, the money is incredibly important in maintaining our suicide prevention and bereavement support services, but it's more than just a fundraising campaign. It's about people. It's about the 135. On average, every death by suicide affects 135 people. That equates to more than 760,000 people last year in the UK alone. We believe the best way to support the 135 is by preventing the 1 from taking their life. That's our goal. That's our mission. So thank you for every mile, every cake baked, and every profit shared. Together we can, and will, save lives, support communities, and prevent suicide. Join our mission: https://lnkd.in/eTS8UHqr #Mission135 #SuicidePrevention #SuicideAwareness

20th May 2023. 24 hours of pushing a 65kg Prowler sled. The final push. £2624 raised for Campaign against living miserably. This money funded 328 potentially life saving phone calls. Nine months on now, that money has most definitely been spent. C.A.L.M suffered massive financial problems during the pandemic and a lot of people's mental health suffered even more. When I take on 1-2-1 clients, it is now a part of my onboarding to give the client a journal to write their thoughts and feelings and uncloud their minds as a small extra to get people to consider that as a coach I'm taking on with them more than just their physical health. In 2024 the financial state of C.A.L.M is not much better. If you or your company are thinking of raising money for charity this year, please consider these amazing people who will be at the end of a phone for people who are at their worst moments in life, and feel that talking with their friends or family is too much of a burden. We need charities like this to continue and they need more help and donations. Mental health problems account for over 30% of sickness absence. As employers wanting a stronger and happier workplace, trying to do more to create safe environments for staff is essential in this day and age when we know this.

This Movember, I'm running 60km to raise awareness and funds for men's health, (as well as growing a mo). ??♂? Men's health is a critical issue in Australia, with alarming statistics around mental health, suicide rates, and chronic conditions. It's more important than ever that we break the stigma, start the conversations, and support each other. The 60km challenge represents the 60 men we lose every hour globally to suicide. I'm committed to raising funds for this vital cause and would appreciate your support. Every dollar helps in the fight to improve mental health, early diagnosis, and overall well-being for men. Join me and the Sandvik Team in supporting Movember by either sharing this or clicking the link below to support with a donation?? https://lnkd.in/g9iHtCEw #Movember #MensHealth #MentalHealthMatters #EndTheStigma #RunForTheCause #Sandvik

You worked hard all your life and, combined with a bit of luck, have created an amazing living legacy. However, when you pass, a large chunk of that legacy might be given to the government rather than to your heirs or the causes you care about due to what we at ASE Private Wealth? call the Social Capital Tax?. Fortunately, we are living in the ideal time to engage in proactive planning that may allow you to convert that living legacy into a lasting legacy, allowing more of your hard earned success to flow to your family and to the charities you champion. Follow along the next few weeks as we take a brief historical trip, get the current lay of the land, and then discuss ways that you can help ensure you can successfully leave the legacy you choose.
