??For this basement transformation, we were a team of 2 that managed to get the clearing the client wanted in less than 3?? hours?. It was pretty straightforward as far as getting everything sorted by categories so the client could truly see everything for the first time in years as opposed to it all being in a giant pile. The ultimate goal was to declutter the space enough so the client could begin the process of refinishing the space. Could she have done it without our help? Possibly...the rest of her house was very well organized and uncluttered but she just allowed the basement to get too cluttered and couldn't visual where to start peeling back the proverbial layers. Once we were there, though, it was much easier for her to make decisions about what would stay vs. get donated. Another inspiring case study from #AJRetroFitLive This time the rejuvenation of the Rylands building (former Debenhams) in the centre of Manchester, also focussing on the reuse of both the building and materials. Kiru Balson described the work of the Max Fordham LLP team who worked towards the challenge of achieving 30% reuse during the refurbishment set as a planning condition, asking themselves the questions: 1. What can we realistically reuse in the same scheme. 2. What about the stuff we don’t need?
