Happy Women’s History Month! This year, the theme for Women’s History Month is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.” As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we must acknowledge women's impact on this world for the better. Women have played critical roles in every field of human advancement and, unfortunately, are not recognized for their contributions. His story cannot exist without her perspective. As we celebrate all these accomplishments and extraordinary women, we must recognize the current challenges women face today. From the battle of a woman's right to choose to the gender pay gap. Paying women 84 cents for every dollar paid to a man and suppressing women's rights over their bodies is wrong and cannot continue to be the standard. Restrictive policies have no place in private matters such as that. All these issues must be resolved as a society if we genuinely want to live up to the promise of the United States as the land of opportunity for all. Happy Women’s History Month! Read about it, educate yourself, and most importantly, listen.

?? Join the conversation on the true cost of being a woman, the theme of Mount Saint Mary's University's 13th annual “The Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California” conference. We must invest IN women and AS women to move the needle on inequality. Women’s issues are not isolated to one specific part of the country. To make a difference, start where you are and look for the common issues. I look for big and little ways to make an impact and urge others to do the same. We’re all in this together, and as we recognize our common goals and connect with one another, we strengthen our potential to make a difference and create meaningful, positive change. We need to encourage each other and get comfortable being uncomfortable because that’s where the money is. Happy International Women’s Day! Beginning with my mother, I have had the great fortune of witnessing first hand the immense resilience, brilliance, creativity and leadership of the women in my life. As we celebrate and recognize the incalculable and historically undervalued contributions women make to our society, economy and our households, it’s essential to consider and act on the IWD guidelines from the United Nations: 1. When women aren't present, we must ask: "If not, why not?" 2. When women are discriminated against, we must call out poor practice. 3. When the treatment of women is not equitable, we must take action. 4. For each of these three, we must act each time, every time.

As we bid farewell to Women's History Month, we pause to reflect on the progress and celebrate the contributions of women in government. This month has been a tribute to the pioneering spirits, the relentless advocates, and the visionary leaders who have carved pathways for equality and excellence within the halls of governance. The narratives we've shared and the dialogues we've engaged in underscore not just the achievements but also the ongoing challenges faced by women in this field. Yet, it's clear that the impact of women in government is profound and far-reaching, shaping policies, influencing change, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard. But let's remember, the essence of Women's History Month extends beyond March. It's a continual call to action to support, empower, and uplift one another, fostering an environment where women in government are recognized, respected, and rewarded equally. As we move forward, let us carry the torch of this month's inspiration into every day of the year. Let's commit to advocating for equality, mentoring the next generation of female leaders, and working collaboratively to address the systemic challenges that remain. To every woman in government, thank you for your service, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to public service. Your dedication not only paves the way for future generations but also ensures that our government reflects the diversity and strength of the people it serves. Here's to continuing to break barriers and to shape a more inclusive and equitable future in governance. Together, we are unstoppable. #WomenInGovernment #WomensHistoryMonth #Leadership #Equality #PublicService #ASQGovernment

A story that inspired me today happened 176 years ago, on September 20, 1848. Not everyone is familiar with the name Elizabeth Cady Stanton, but her impact on women’s lives today is profound. In a small chapel in Seneca Falls, New York, Stanton stood up in front of a group of brave women and men, ready to challenge the world’s view of women. She read the Declaration of Sentiments, her words simple but powerful: “All men and women are created equal.” For the women in that room, those words were life-changing. They had always been treated as less important than men, but in that moment, they felt a spark of hope. The Declaration called for rights that were unheard of at the time: the right to vote, to own property, to get an education, and to be equal partners in marriage. Some people in the room were nervous, unsure about these bold ideas. But others believed in the change these women were fighting for. When the Declaration was signed, those women knew they had started something big. The path ahead would be tough, but they had taken the first step toward equality. Stanton's efforts paved the way for future generations. Her push for women's rights, especially the right to vote, was key in the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, granting women the vote. Today, their courage inspires me. Rather than continuing the fight, I believe we can collaborate with our similarly minded male colleagues to strive for better equality of opportunities. Together, we can build on the progress made and work toward a future where everyone has the chance to succeed. #WomensRights #GenderEquality #Leadership #DiversityandInclusion #SenecaFalls

There's been a lot for me to be truly and utterly depressed and disheartened about for girls and women over the last year, but I'm trying to look for the light as #iwd2024 rolls around again. Light which comes from organisations like Young Women's Trust, who are working to stop young women being held back by any number of issues, let alone the day to day of getting by. I firmly believe that economic justice is key for women, not only enabling choices but also contributing to the better performance of our wider economy. Things that underpin this: 1) Sharing the load domestically so that women's 'unpaid' work doesn't remove access to paid work. 2) Showing salaries on job ads. Please! 3) Proactively championing by holding space for young women, encouraging, choosing and valuing their voices, sharing knowledge, experiences, networks and opportunities. YWT run coaching and CV feedback sessions you can volunteer for as a start. 4) Paying attention. Call out everyday sexism wherever you see it. Don't let it pass unchallenged. 5) Paying equal salaries for equal work. Stop moving towards closing the gender pay gap and just...close it. Happy IWD, whatever it means to you.?? #internationalwomensday #internationalwomensday2024
Brace yourselves, because guess what? Women’s equality has apparently gone too far. We know the truth, women’s equality hasn’t gone far enough. Our research shows that Young women earn £4,000 less per year on average, compared to young men. On top of this they are being paid less than men even for the same work, despite this being illegal. Share this if you agree there’s more to be done.
