Since the 1980s, Victoria's women’s health sector has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of women's health and equality. Our evolution from responsive services to champions of primary prevention marks a significant shift in addressing the root causes of women's health disparities. Collaboration is at our core, as we lead health promotion with a place-based approach that marries research with practice. This has allowed us to inform policy and adapt to community needs efficiently. Discover the full scope of our impact in the latest report, "Small change, big impact," and join us as we continue to shape a healthier, more equitable Victoria: https://lnkd.in/gRKPtDTt #GenderWiseSavesLives #HealthEqualityPaysOff #WomensHealthServicesVIC #HealthyBudget4Women Natalie Hutchins MP, Kat Theophanous MP, Mary-Anne Thomas MP, Katie Hall, Luba Grigorovitch MP, Sarah Connolly MP, Ben Carroll, Mathew Hilakari MP, Natalie Suleyman MP, Dylan Wight MP, David Ettershank MP, Steve McGhie MP

Women need safe spaces in health. But are the surveys and questions being used to promote this week truly reflective of their experiences? I asked a few patient groups who categorically said “no” and then offered alternative responses to how they feel about going to the doctor; “Apprehensive about being minimised” “Worried I’ll spend money to get no answers” “Terrified I won’t be listened to” The patient experience in 2024 of going to the doctor isn’t best described in a “personality test”. It’s not how we turn up that determines the outcome - but how we are received that creates trust. It's time to prioritise authentic voices in healthcare research. Terrible questions lead to false narratives. Let's focus on real issues and create meaningful content for Women's Health Week. Please, we beg of you to be our champions here. Anything less is just a PR stunt. #womenshealthweek Tend Health Ltd

Women's health innovation is gaining momentum, but significant challenges remain. According to SVB's Innovation in Women's Health Report, the women's health sector received record investment in 2023 across a variety of focus areas. However, women have faced challenges in accessing quality healthcare due to sex and gender biases, as well as a lack of representation in medical research. This often leads to delayed diagnosis, misdiagnosis, or undertreatment. To resolve these systemic issues and improve outcomes, more concerted efforts are needed to fund innovation, accelerate commercialization, and ensure accessible solutions reach women everywhere. This is why we are incredibly proud of our partner, Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), for investing in this space, beginning with their Sprint for Women's Health!
??UPDATE: We were thrilled to have an overwhelmingly positive response to the #SprintForWomensHealth! Proposals covering the six topics came from 45 states, the District of Columbia, and 34 countries. ICYMI: Our Sprint for Women’s Health initiative aims to address critical unmet challenges in women’s health, championing transformative innovations and tackling health conditions that uniquely or disproportionately affect women. Read about submission highlights and what’s next as we continue to sprint forward ??

Listen to the women. Thier experiences should guide our public health interventions especially in #MCH. How we intervene has to match people’s experiences, which are nuanced, complex, and very real. #WayForward2024 #Pathways Sonder Collective
