Cities need to promote their new businesses maybe even more than the new businesses need to promote themselves. To stay agile, cities need new and upcoming businesses. Showcasing these new businesses seems to only make sense. As potential customers learn about your new businesses, they gain pride in their community, network, and may develop their own entrepreneurial ideas. Each city or region has the opportunity to grow. Just like we as individuals need to grow and adapt, it's important for cities and regions to make adjustments over time in order to keep an edge and not stagnate. Hey, this Wednesday, we'll be running a masterclass on something so many businesses struggle with: misalignment leading to unnecessary disagreements, nothing getting done, and a sense of dysfunction. Rather than a long list of prescriptive rules, we’ll be sharing four distinct ‘organisational identities’ designed to help your business succeed. Each identity is deliberately mutually exclusive and context-specific - you can’t be all of them, and that’s the whole point. Every successful business started off by fitting neatly into one of these four identities. Choosing one is challenging, but it’s the best way to create real clarity and alignment. When you do, everything falls into place - people work better together, make decisions, adapt, prioritise, and make real progress as a team. I can’t wait to share this!

This week its Upstream Festival in #rotterdam. The entire week will be filled with side-events and key-notes to make your startup succeed. For now I want to give three tips to prepare for the event properly: 1. Set your goal: Determine what your goal is during the event and adjust your pitch to it. 2. Connect to the right people: Use the Swapcard app to connect to the people you want to speak to and try to set up meetings either during the event or otherwise afterward. 3. Follow up! prepare a sheet, easy to reach note app on your phone or WhatsApp channel with yourself. Write down what you spoke about after your conversations and make sure the time invested does not go wasted by following up properly.
