??Posted @withregram ? @ca.water.boards Happy National Groundwater Awareness Week! #dyk Groundwater provides 40 to 60% of California’s water supply? Groundwater is a vital California resource. It refers to water stored below the Earth’s surface in aquifers. Aquifers are layers of earth that hold water in spaces between sand and soils. Stacked layers of aquifers make up a groundwater basin. Check out this publication from @cadepartmentofwaterresources to learn more about it: ??bit.ly/4cceGW9 Graphic courtesy of CA DWR #groundwaterawarenessweek #waterquality #watermanagement #waterinnovation #waterconservation #wateraction #waterindustry #wateraction #waterinfrastructure #water #DoGood #SabrinasSights

The correct answer is Rainwater. Rainwater is formed through the condensation of water vapor and as it falls it typically has a lower Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) content comparatively. World Water Day Countdown! ?? Q&A series We asked you about TDS (Total Dissolved Solids). Rainwater typically has a TDS of 20ppm or less. Fresh water from lakes, rivers, and groundwater is more variable, with TDS ranging from 20 ppm to approx 1,000 ppm depending on minerals picked up from soil and rocks and other surrounding influences. TDS is only one parameter. Rainwater, surface water, and groundwater, each unique in its own right, play vital roles in our ecosystem. The delicate balance among these sources is increasingly at risk due to human activities such as Urbanization, Industrialization and Excessive withdrawal of groundwater, so on. More on that in next question. #WorldWaterDay #Goal6 #Water #WaterFacts #WaterAction #Peace #WaterConservation #Sustainability #CommunityEngagement #WaterForPeace #WaterCooperation

Did you know? Groundwater accounts for 99% of liquid freshwater on earth and is the source of one quarter of all the water used by humans. Large volumes of fresh groundwater are present below the ground surface and distributed over the entire globe; however, this volume of freshwater is irregularly distributed over the continents. #water #groundwaterprotection #groundwater

Clean up of waterways… #forlifeandlimb As only 2.5% of the Earth’s water is freshwater and 68.7% of that is stored in icecaps, glaciers, and permanent snow. With another 30.1% tied up as groundwater, it only makes sense that we take care of the 1.2% of freshwater that’s available to us.

Always interesting to see how different regions handle their stormwater in unique ways.
Curious about how cities manage stormwater in dry climates? Infiltration basins are fantastic for absorbing stormwater in areas with permeable soils. But, they do require some TLC to keep functioning—like removing sediment that naturally accumulates over time.
