We've been putting some good energy into gathering stats so we can illustrate just what this community is capable of while figuring out how to be the most effective as we grow. Do you have enough natural fundraisers or is fear holding back your board and staff from making the ask? When I was in high school, I served as my class treasurer. In college, I worked for the Tufts Telefund and raised money for UJA. Throughout high school and college, I volunteered on political campaigns, focusing on fundraising and events. Asking people for money has always felt natural to me—I never feel badly about it. When people say yes, I am genuinely happy for them and the organization or cause. When people say no, I don’t take it personally. I know that not everyone feels this way about fundraising, but I believe this is one of my #superpowers.
