The effectiveness of the interventions was evaluated ex ante through the application of traffic simulation models at different scales. As professor at Department of Marine Technology (IMT) - NTNU I am proud that NTNU is taking part in this tremendous important mission of decarbonizating shipping. This is one of the most transformative shifts in transportation since we did go from sailing to steam and then oil fuels. There is no silver bullet in terms of fuel types and energy sources. We are in hurry to take action meeting emissions goals of greenhouse gases. There will be hybrid solutions including batteries, green and blue fuels, wind assisted propulsion using sails, nuclear… New supply chains of fueling must be developed. Norway can play an important role in the transition by producing blue fuels from natural gas with CCS. The cost of energy will increase leading to exciting times for the field of marine technology. Everything is in play again optimizing designs and solutions. This is also the time where new business positions will be taken.

In Edinburgh today joining the joint hubs event on achieving resilient freight electromobility as part of our contribution to TransiT Digital Twinning for Transport Decarbonisation - fascinating range of opinions / discussions on the table, from a rail perspective we see ourselves as a long distance mode with road for the last mile but interesting to get perspectives from others around removing traffic from roads in urban settings etc. Understanding the policy drivers is clearly going to be a big part of this puzzle.
