"In case you missed it.?Dr. Laura Dresser, the keynote at the recent Women’s Fund Spring Luncheon, spoke brilliantly of the movement of women into the workforce over the last few decades, with Wisconsin having one of the highest percentages of women in the labor market.?She describes how the shift of women working outside the home, expanded the “care economy," including child care, elder care and other service/support sectors.?The lack of public investment in these however, has resulted in further inequities for women, who may represent the majority of these workers.?The participation rate for women in Wisconsin’s workforce is dropping as many have no choice but to assume greater shares of care work for their families.?So many in the audience truly connected with the issues she described.?Follow more from Dr. Dresser at High Road Strategy -?https://highroad.wisc.edu.?The Women’s Fund current funding priorities include access to child care, behavioral health and financial security for women- all intertwined in the elements of Dr. Dresser’s work.?Follow the Fund @?cfcwi.org?Women’s Fund.

Discovering the Heartbeat of Successful Community Outreach Have you ever wondered what truly makes community outreach programs succeed? ?? It's not just about organizing events or raising funds. The real secret lies in understanding and connecting with the community at its core. ?? During my journey in event marketing and community leadership, I've learned that listening is more powerful than speaking. Tailoring programs to meet the specific needs and desires of the community not only fosters engagement but also builds lasting relationships. ?? Success comes from creating spaces where voices are heard, contributions are valued, and everyone has a sense of belonging. In essence, effective community outreach is rooted in empathy, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to service. As we plan our next initiatives, let's focus on being catalysts for positive change by putting people first. After all, it's the connections we forge that drive real impact.

Poli Sci folks: I have been asked to do a "practitioners roundtable" at APSA to highlight political scientists working outside of academia as part of their career diversification program. I would love to do some shoutouts so please message me if you know of any fellow political scientists working in nonprofit/policy spaces. (Also doing a roundtable on Idea of Fraternity in America for new readers).

Nonprofits need board members, y'all. I'm serious - it's one of the top needs I hear when I meet with our nonprofit members. You don't need deep pockets or specialized skills to be an effective board member. You need a few hours a month, passion for the cause, and the ability to work with others to accomplish goals. What are some of the benefits you might get through board service?
