Congratulations Riverside Academy in acquiring this 5,500 SF property at 430 Lisbon Street in Lewiston! What a great story about the changing of hands between two like-minded non-profits. "We had multiple offers but [Creative Works] really wanted to make it happen for Riverside given the important work they do in the community." Janine Lind, MBA, CPM had an informative conversation with Lillian Reed of the Baltimore Banner about the impact that MacKenzie Scott's second grant of $65 million will have on Enterprise and its work in the Mid-Atlantic and across the U.S.
We’re grateful for Mackenzie Scott’s generous $65 million donation this fall, following a prior $50 million donation in 2020. “This came at a moment where the affordable housing sector certainly is being put to test and is struggling,” shared Janine Lind, MBA, CPM, president of Enterprise Community Development. We will continue to tackle the housing crisis across the country, and use this donation to address the need for housing supply and climate-resilient communities. https://bit.ly/3ZMSTA2

Nolan Browne bringing some good news: ?? Affordable Housing for All ?? McKenzie Scott's commitment to affordable housing shines a much-needed spotlight on one of the most pressing challenges of our time. Her generosity is transforming lives and opening doors for families in need. But what if housing didn’t have to rely on donations to become affordable? At BotBuilt, we’re on a mission to revolutionize the construction industry with cutting-edge AI and robotics. By streamlining the construction process and harnessing the power of computer vision and automation, we’re driving down costs, improving efficiency, and creating a world where high-quality housing is within reach for everyone. Our approach even makes use of cost-effective stud-grade lumber, proving that innovation can be both smart and sustainable. In a decade, we envision a future where housing affordability is no longer an act of charity—it’s a built-in feature of how we construct homes. We applaud McKenzie Scott’s leadership in this space and are energized to push even harder to make affordable housing scalable, sustainable, and commonplace. Let’s build a better tomorrow together. #AffordableHousing #Innovation #AI #Sustainability #ConstructionTech #BotBuilt

"At the end of the day, it’s not really about our egos, it’s about the work." Annam Manthiram of CitySquare Nonprofits form because they see a problem they believe they can address. But after a while, the organization's unspoken mission often becomes survival, which show up in ways like mission creep and chasing contracts. Here, Manthiram saw the writing on the wall and chose an orderly winding-down, bestowing spun-off initiatives with resources. https://lnkd.in/eKkYR_RN #Nonprofit #nonprofitmanagment #humanservices

I'm not sold on the thought that the number of nonprofits in SA, or perceived overlap, is the conversation we need to have. If an organization pops up to fill a need, and that org can, as Stephen Lucke mentions, be agile and innovative to meet those needs, then it's not just contributing to "too many" -- it's necessary. At the same time, considering an acquisition, merger, or (gasp!) even dissolution, can be the most visionary decision for an org. Putting the mission above history, tradition, and ego could result in greater impact. I love the reframe to focus instead on how WELL our efforts are meeting the needs of our community--and how we can better collaborate (or even step aside) to strengthen that work.
A segment of nonprofit leaders believe at least some of the 2,583 Bexar County-area nonprofits should consider consolidation.

These places can include: ??Coffee shops or other local businesses ??Houses of worship ??Community centers ??Parks ??Nonprofit and civic institutions These are the places where neighbors create social cohesion – where they bond, chat, or just relax together. It's a problem many nonprofits face: their space no longer has the capacity to fully serve the community's needs. When we connected with Samaritan Recovery Community, this was their experience. They could not renovate their space without pausing their life-changing services; there wasn’t enough capital to build a new building on the land they owned, and SRC did not want to sell their land and move their facilities outside of the city because they wouldn’t be able to serve the community as well. So together, we got creative. While SRC remained fully operational, Holladay Ventures and Evergreen Real Estate built a brand new, debt-free building right next door to SRC’s former campus that doubled their treatment capacity and developed two brand new affordable housing communities, bringing a total of 484 affordable units to East Nashville. This transformational redevelopment was a win-win for the community. #nashvilleapartment #affordablehousing #affordablecommunity #attainablehousing #nashvilletn #nashvillehomes #nashvilleapartments #nashville #eastnashville #nashvillenonprofit #nonprofit

"Exciting news out of #Charleston! A local #nonprofit opened its doors to affordable homes near the downtown area. This incredible cause aims to provide sustainable housing solutions for low-income families, aligning perfectly with their mission to tackle housing challenges in the community. This project showcases the power of collaboration and community involvement! It offered a new opportunity for the nonprofit to blend its business and marketing strategy, all while prioritizing the vital need for affordable housing. But is your #nonprofit doing the same? Are you aware of the power behind correctly positioning your business vs. your cause? The key to success lies in our approach; we should always tell the story and connect with the community. Using the Charleston project as an example, you too can inspire others with your nonprofit! Remember, it's not just about what you do, but also how you market it. Be inspired! Be curious! Ask the lingering questions about how best to market your nonprofit & you'll find the sustainable solutions your community needs.??????? #MarketingNonprofits #NonprofitBusinessStrategy #AffordableHousing #Partnership #GiveHopeDaily What are your thoughts on the role of affordable housing in our communities?
