Congratulations Riverside Academy in acquiring this 5,500 SF property at 430 Lisbon Street in Lewiston! What a great story about the changing of hands between two like-minded non-profits. "We had multiple offers but [Creative Works] really wanted to make it happen for Riverside given the important work they do in the community." "At the end of the day, it’s not really about our egos, it’s about the work." Annam Manthiram of CitySquare Nonprofits form because they see a problem they believe they can address. But after a while, the organization's unspoken mission often becomes survival, which show up in ways like mission creep and chasing contracts. Here, Manthiram saw the writing on the wall and chose an orderly winding-down, bestowing spun-off initiatives with resources. https://lnkd.in/eKkYR_RN #Nonprofit #nonprofitmanagment #humanservices

"During the pandemic, the rise in remote work created an influx of residents from large urban centres keen to take advantage of Haliburton County’s housing prices, which are still lower than in places like Toronto. The economic gap between the year-round residents and the seasonal visitors increased and with it, the area’s affordable housing challenges. The role of Places for People was becoming increasingly important. Still, creating more affordable housing projects would require larger sums of money. Enter Tapestry Community Capital." Thanks Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Société canadienne d'hypothèques et de logement(SCHL) for sharing the Tapestry + Places for People story! Check out the link below to learn more. #affordablehousing #housingsupply #communityfinance #socialfinance

One of the 14 finalists in round 2 of the Housing Supply Challenge—a competition designed to address barriers to new housing supply—Tapestry is a non-profit that empowers organizations to raise funds. Working in partnership with Tapestry, Places for People leveraged their expertise to raise $850,000 in community bonds in record time - less than 3 months! This achievement, backed by over 80% local investors, positions the organization to create more affordable housing within the county. This collaboration demonstrates the power of community involvement in tackling pressing issues like affordable housing. https://ow.ly/oFyH50QGJBX

"Exciting news out of #Charleston! A local #nonprofit opened its doors to affordable homes near the downtown area. This incredible cause aims to provide sustainable housing solutions for low-income families, aligning perfectly with their mission to tackle housing challenges in the community. This project showcases the power of collaboration and community involvement! It offered a new opportunity for the nonprofit to blend its business and marketing strategy, all while prioritizing the vital need for affordable housing. But is your #nonprofit doing the same? Are you aware of the power behind correctly positioning your business vs. your cause? The key to success lies in our approach; we should always tell the story and connect with the community. Using the Charleston project as an example, you too can inspire others with your nonprofit! Remember, it's not just about what you do, but also how you market it. Be inspired! Be curious! Ask the lingering questions about how best to market your nonprofit & you'll find the sustainable solutions your community needs.??????? #MarketingNonprofits #NonprofitBusinessStrategy #AffordableHousing #Partnership #GiveHopeDaily What are your thoughts on the role of affordable housing in our communities? As an organization we create a Diversity Calendar each year in accordance with a selected theme. This year’s theme focuses on highlighting nonprofits in the area that align with our Triple Bottom Line— People, Planet, and Profit. In March, we have chosen to highlight ICCF Community Homes. Inner City Christian Federation (ICCF) Community Homes is the oldest nonprofit affordable housing provider in Michigan. They’ve been active in the Grand Rapids area since 1974 and engage 2,000+ households each year with housing-related services. They manage over 600 units of affordable rental housing and provide homeownership education and home purchase opportunities to hundreds of neighbors. All people deserve safe, affordable housing. ICCF Community Homes seeks housing justice in West Michigan for a more equitable and thriving community. VISION: Vibrant communities in West Michigan with connected neighbors, housing justice, and abundant opportunity. MISSION: Equitable opportunity, affordable homes, and thriving neighborhoods. VALUES: Respect, treating all people with dignity; Opportunity, empowering our neighbors to use their innate gifts; Beauty, constructing sustainable, beautiful homes. HISTORY: ICCF began with a single donation of a home to a church in 1974. A group of volunteers decided to renovate the house and sell it to a low-income family. Decades later, the scope of their work has increased significantly, but the heart remains the same. ICCF believes that all people deserve safe, affordable housing—and that stable housing is essential to foster a thriving community.

A new survey shows that almost 80% of our state's nonprofits could be in financial trouble within a year - an alarming increase from 50% in 2022. Nonprofits are still rebuilding from COVID and economic factors are causing more people to seek help from social service organizations. Nonprofits rely heavily on philanthropic support and support is dwindling which can lead to programs being cut, staff being let go and nonprofits merging just to continue their work. https://lnkd.in/gKAsArer

Always fun to learn what is coming into your community, yet even better when you help build connections as businesses work to get established in your community. That’s what is going on here with the sharing of ideas, energy and resources for this school coming to Apex! What can we do for your business? #BuildingConnectingInspiring #GrowingCommunity #SharingResources
Great meeting with Michele Bandy of Grace Christian School and Katie McMillan who volunteers with Grace Christian. Did you know that this school that currently operates in Raleigh and Cary is consolidating by moving the entire system to Apex? It will be located just north of US 1 off Veridea Parkway. Based on the renderings, this will be a great campus that allows for more classroom space and to have all grade levels represented on one campus. Not to mention all of the amenities and special touches that will be worked into the design. Still time for you to be involved in the naming or donating to help them meet their fundraising goal (reach out directly to Michele). Can’t wait for this to become a reality by being built. #LetsChamber
