There are many reasons why this idea will solve very little. A teenager said to me yesterday - why is it we cannot vote at 16 but we are expected to take stressful, once in a life time exams that we are told will affect our life’s chances and are expected to make further unidisciplinary decisions for our 16-18 years at school or college. Let’s wonder more about why many children find school so challenging they don’t turn up. Let’s change schools to adapt to those children rather than play around with the edges of this tricky problem. Let’s innovate and being daring. Let’s have a distinctive secondary education system fit to embrace modern challenges that encourages children to go beyond exam results. They might even become less stressed and less ‘snowflake’. Not that they are of course.

#disapointing -how have the Center for social justice and Flick Drummond come to this conclusion?? Your research isn't wrong but the solution doesn't make sense? The Education (Pupil Registration) Regulations 1995. These regulations state the duty of headteachers who have to inform the Local Authority that the child has been deregistered and removed from school roll within 10 working/school days. - the vulnerable children you are talking about are already registered! 1. All children deregistered from school are automatically registered with the local authrority #notmissing 2. Children Missing Education (CME), missing from school, not being educated anywhere are already on school roll #notmissing 3. If schools are not meeting the needs of vulnerable young people perhaps you need a register of schools with persistently absent support services. or a register of schools off-rolling? #UnMetNeed 4. A register of home educated child (who are already on a register) will not find children absent from school or those missing education (CME). You cannot be both on school roll and home educated. I think we all agree young people should be supported and safe - that happens when parents are supported and when resources and funding are put in the right direction - we do a great disservice to social justice and our young people with red herrings and misdirected policies. #Doctoralresesrcher #educationotherwise #homeeducation #researcher #phdHomeEducation
