Soul’s Journey It was represented @m.a.d.s.artgallery Hysterica International Exhibition 2021 Art Curator Martina Lattuca critical review of my art work & more information of current exhibition can be found here: https://lnkd.in/g_SAniR3 It is best to see abstract art in person to truly get the full effect. This will help you immeasurably with understanding abstract art. In person, you can see up close the texture, size, stroke of the paintbrush, shine or matte of the surface. You can feel the strength of the painting from across the room. Size: 50x60cm 1.6cm thickness Technique: mixed media: texture materials, gesso, acrylics, chalk Currently in Private Collection * Description Inspired by Kazimir Malevich who underwent such an initiatory experience as he came to the Suprematist vision, he felt “a kind of timidity bordering on fear when I was called upon to leave ‘the world of will and idea’ in which I had lived and worked and in the reality of which I had believed. <…>. If all artists could see the crossroads of these celestial paths, if they could comprehend these monstrous runways and the weaving of our bodies with the clouds in the sky, then they would not paint chrysanthemums.” This resonates personal experience during Pandemic reflecting frequently a similar feeling of profound fear and ability to open wider doors to consciousness and subconscious mind. This feeling of fear is subsequently overcome by the idyllic sensation of creating black “Soul’s Journey” painting on white canvas by using Suprematism conception on quadrilateral canvas. #abstractart #texturedart #suprematism #womenartists #davinadugnas

A fascinating interview with Lindy Lee AO FAHA by Abra Pressler Australian Academy of the Humanities. On the Ouroboros at the National Gallery of Australia “We had to create new technologies, new methodologies, to bring that vision to life — no one in the world could make Ouroboros at the time…” “The fact of the matter is that yes, it did cost $14 million. Every aspect of this sculpture was created and developed in Australia. Each panel was cut, welded, assembled and polished by hand. We employed over 300 people on this project. Some welders started and completed their apprenticeships working on the Ouroboros.”
A few months ago, I had the very distinct privilege of interviewing artist Lindy Lee AO FAHA following the unveiling of her major sculpture, 'Ouroboros', at the National Gallery of Australia. Over lunch, we chatted about creating and creation, spirituality, and the sculpture's $14m price tag. ?? Here's my piece for Australian Academy of the Humanities. ?? https://lnkd.in/grneBtCY

That's a beautiful perspective on art and design. When money is no longer a limitation, the choices you make in art become reflections of your personal values, sensibilities, and deeper connection to beauty. Each piece, whether it's a painting, sculpture, or design object, tells a story of what resonates with you—your tastes, your inspirations, and perhaps even the way you see the world. It becomes more about the emotional and intellectual impact of the artwork rather than its market value. This makes collecting an authentic expression of who you are, creating a legacy of art that speaks beyond trends and material wealth. Would you say your personal collection reflects this vision? The head in the picture is that of "Lajuwa,” The usurper palace courtier of Ife", Ile-Ife. dated 12th -15th century. One of the few famous ile-ife Terracotta head sculpture that lies in famous Museum’s and galleries all over the world. What was the cause, what led to the decline of the art in Ile-Ife ? Lajuwa was the Sarun, the Palace Courtier to Ooni Aworokolofi, a very old man. After his death Lajuwa commissioned the sculptors to do his replica and he mounted this on throne. While Lajuwa ruled Ife indirectly telling the people, the Ooni was too old, thus he pretended to taking instructions from the Ooni statue. There were whispers that he must have colluded with the Princes and Princess to deceive the people of Ife. How true? We can never tell. However, when his deception was discovered, Lajuwa was put on trial and was sentenced to death by beheading, with all the artists and sculptors by the succeeding Ooni at a place call Atiba Grove. And so, Lajuwa wrote himself into history because today, he is the patron 'saint' of the Emese's or the palace courtiers of Ife. The mass killings of the artist ushered in the decline of the art industry in Ile-Ife. Today the Ife terracotta works constitute a large and diverse corpus that includes sculptures and vessels depicting human, animal, and otherworldly subjects. These works vary in size from nearly life-size, full-length figures to tiny figurines only six inches high, and range in style from extreme naturalism to abstract forms. A true testament of a sophisticated civilization that was way ahead of its time. Born on an 28th of October, the British painter Francis Bacon has painted one of the most expensive artworks in the world sold in November 2013 for US$142.4 million. ? The price of "Three Studies of Lucian Freud" is a combination of several factors like: ? 1. Historical Significance: Painted in 1969, it captures the complex relationship between Bacon and his friend, Lucian Freud, who was also an influential artist. The piece represents a rare moment where two iconic figures in 20th-century art are symbolically intertwined, which enhances its historical weight. ? 2. Artistic Mastery: Bacon’s unique style of expressing raw human emotion through distorted yet vivid figures is widely celebrated. The triptych format, where each of the three panels creates a continuous narrative, demonstrates Bacon's mastery in portraiture and adds complexity, making it both unique and highly valuable. ? 3. Rarity: This piece is one of the few large-scale triptychs from Bacon that remain in private hands. Since most of his major works are held by museums and unlikely to be sold, collectors are willing to pay a premium for the rare chance to own a piece of his legacy. ? 4. Provenance and Market Demand: The art market is driven by demand from wealthy collectors who view these masterpieces as investments. When "Three Studies of Lucian Freud" sold for $142.4 million in 2013, it was a record-breaking moment. The sale reflected not only its artistic value but also the prestige associated with owning a Bacon work. ? 5. Emotional Appeal: Bacon's works, especially his portraits, are highly emotive and speak to universal themes of existentialism and human suffering, resonating with audiences deeply. This connection adds immeasurable intrinsic value to his works. ? Combined, all these factors make the painting a unique asset reflecting in the pricetag of this painting. ? #artwork #art #220dots #October28 #FrancisBacon #LucianFreud #ArtInvestment #ArtMarket #LuxuryInvestments #ModernArt #ContemporaryArt #ArtCollectors #ArtInvesting #FineArt #PostWarArt #ArtMasterpieces #MuseumQualityArt #ArtHistory #ArtAuction #BlueChipArt #Expressionism #ArtPatronage
