We've spent the last #15YearsOfSattva researching, analysing, and building knowledge databases to aid and accelerate impact. The Bharat East report explores the performance of the eastern states — #Bihar, #Jharkhand, #Odisha, and #WestBengal — using data points from the #NFHSIV, #NFHSV, and #MissionAntyodaya resources. It highlights that while being home to only 22% of the population, these four states account for more than 40% of the Aspirational Districts identified by NITI Aayog. Despite this large need, the states jointly received 6% of India's total CSR funds from 2014-2021. Odisha receives 75% of the East's share of the #DistrictMineralFund, while West Bengal and Bihar are among the bottom five recipients of #DMF allocations in the country. Read the full report here: https://bit.ly/44TXPUS At Sattva, we build for the impact ecosystem by consulting on and orchestrating frameworks that can be replicated and scaled, and offer knowledge and data platforms as public goods, as well as collaborative solutions. Thank you for following our journey and supporting us so we can continue to deliver high impact. #ContinuingToDeliverHighImpact #dataforimpact #impactconsulting #buildingforimpact #developmentframework #EastIndia #aspirationaldistricts #BharatEast #bharateastinitiative

#TransformingMaharashtra Back in 2016, a moment changed my life forever. I heard about a farmer's suicide in a nearby village, A tragic incident where a farmer ended his life near a dam. This left me with a haunting question: "Can agriculture truly be a profitable and sustainable livelihood?" As a student of #PGDM Rural Management, I have a responsibility to find answers to improve the lives and livelihoods of our farmers. Recently, I analyzed CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) spending across Maharashtra and India, and the insights were both revealing and concerning. Key Observations: - Maharashtra leads CSR spending in India, with ?5497.3 crore in 2022-23. However, within Maharashtra, cities like Mumbai (?2764.11 Cr.) and Pune (? 1053.09 Cr.) attract the lion’s share of CSR funding. Underserved regions like Vidarbha and Marathwada, where the crisis is most acute, receive far less CSR attention. - Alarmingly, 1,267 farmers committed suicide in Maharashtra in the first six months of this year alone, with #Amravati division in Vidarbha accounting for 557 deaths (The Times Of India, July 22, 2024). #CompaniesAct2013, CSR mandates companies to spend 2% of their profits on social initiatives, a powerful tool for driving development. However, to achieve holistic growth in Maharashtra, we must: - Diversify CSR spending to include backward districts. - Adopt modern agricultural technologies that boost productivity and sustainability. - Build robust infrastructure for empowering rural communities. This is not just about numbers, It’s about creating opportunities for inclusive and equitable growth. With thoughtful allocation of CSR funds, we can turn challenges into opportunities, making agriculture a profitable and sustainable venture while uplifting lives across Maharashtra. - What’s Your Take? How can we ensure CSR funds are more equitably distributed to tackle pressing issues in underserved regions? The Lakhpati Kisan initiative was born from the dreams and aspirations of women who, during field research, expressed that earning ?10,000 a month could transform their lives. This would amount to ?1 lakh a year—making them "Lakhpatis"—a symbol of financial stability and pride for the communities. The title of 'Lakhpati' has become a beacon of possibility, showing what can be achieved through collective effort and sustainable practices.?Currently operating in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Odisha, this initiative, supported by Tata Trusts, enables families to realise their hopes of economic security, stronger social bonds, and a future resilient to climate challenges.?And?this journey is just beginning. In the coming weeks, we will explore how this model helps stabilise rural incomes by addressing resource limitations and market access, ensuring that women and their families and communities continue to thrive. Our analysis reveals a concentrated pattern of CSR funding across India. While certain states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat lead the pack, other regions are comparatively underserved. This disparity highlights the need for a more equitable distribution of CSR funds to foster balanced development across the country. #CSR #CSRfunding #India #RegionalDisparities #CorporateSocialResponsibility #SattvaMediaandConsulting #IndiaDataInsights

In Jharkhand, irregular demography and erratic rainfall cripples livelihoods, leaving communities struggling. While MGNREGA offers some relief, its approach often falls short. 'NEEDS - Exist to Impact', a non-profit organisation, has partnered with the Jharkhand government and MGNREGA to empower women and provide employment to the community through sustainable practices. With training, they become MATES, guiding MGNREGA workers efficiently. These women analyse land, propose projects, and facilitate watershed projects, bringing economic stability to the region. NEEDS intervention has also resulted in 100% of women MATES in the Jharkhand state. Client-?NEEDS Produced by JDot Productions https://lnkd.in/gcJrq2eP
