Classroom course Seismic Structural Interpretation Techniques Stavanger Norway 28 Oct. - 1 Nov. 2024 The aim of this course is to consider how the interpretation of seismic reflection data can be used in subsurface exploration of complex sedimentary basins with a focus on the interaction of sedimentary and structural evolution and the impact on hydrocarbon systems. It will provide an overview of the fundamentals of geophysical data interpretation and then consider the application in a suite of sedimentary basin settings. It will consider fault geometry, basin fill and implications for reservoir distribution and deformation. The class is taught through integrating recent advances in understanding of structural geology in the context of Basin Analysis, the integration of sedimentary deposition and structural geology and can be applied to both exploration and production settings. For any explorers with an eye on the Gawler this drilling is worth watching. Only a handful of meaningful drillholes are recorded northward of Coober Pedy Ridge and into the Nawa Domain and beyond. There is so much open ground in this area due to the perceived lack of prospectivity and limited data. The implications from this co-funded industry and gov exploration program could be significant, and the data is always industry leading. As a side, also a real opportunity for industry collaboration as MinEx CRC is approachable and can be amenable to drilling on your ground if your tenure is in a similar terrane/domain to their activities (Copper Search Limited, Petratherm Ltd, Talisman Mining Limited, BHP).

When I am on field , every observation I make , I try to explain the general trend of Lithology observed.on my experience I saw that Structural attitude is crucial for geologists in the field because it provides valuable information about the orientation and geometry of geological features such as rock layers, faults, folds, and fractures. so, by understanding the structural attitude, geologists can: 1.Interpret geological history: Structural attitudes help geologists unravel the complex history of rock formations, including their deformation and tectonic processes over time. 2.Predict subsurface geology: Knowledge of structural attitudes can aid in predicting the behavior and characteristics of subsurface geology, which is important for various applications such as mineral exploration and hydrocarbon reservoir analysis. 3.Assess geological hazards: Understanding structural attitudes helps geologists evaluate the potential for geological hazards such as landslides, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions by assessing the stability of rock formations and fault zones. 4.Interpret geological maps: Structural attitudes are essential for accurately representing geological features on maps, enabling geologists to create detailed geological maps that are useful for a wide range of purposes, including resource exploration and land-use planning.
