STARTING LINES & FINISH LINES Ah...comparisonitis. It really is a head trip, isn't it? We look at others, longingly, and wonder why we can't just snap our fingers and *be* like them or *have* what they (whoever THEY are) have. But here's the deal... We want experience, excellence, mastery, but...those things take time. No one arrives there over night. In fact, truth be told, the finish line keeps moving. It doesn't really exist. So what do we do? We stop comparing our starting line to someone else's finish line. We stop comparing our journey to someone else's journey. We get out of the stands and on to the tarmac. We start. We show up, day after day. We take one step and then another. We learn. We adapt. We grow. And then...one beautiful day in the future...we'll look over our shoulder. We'll see someone else at the starting line, longing to be what we are and have what we have, and we'll smile. We'll encourage them, wave them over, wait for them. We'll know we've neared the finish line because we no longer care about getting there first. We now know that the journey is more important than the destination.
