"I always ask my crew, are you willing to risk your life to protect a whale?" - Paul Watson ?? We are at a very dangerous point in time right now. ? Protesters & action takers like Paul Watson & many other climate & nature activists get imprisoned with harsh sentences.? ? At least 1,500 planet defenders have been killed since the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2015.? ? People start using words like climate or eco-terrorists. We celebrate those who destroy our present & future.? We kill, imprison & label those who protect it. That doesn't feel right. ?? So what do you, me & all others do about it? Paul asks a pretty tough question. If it would come to it, I firmly believe I would. But it's always much easier said than done. Yet, I don't think he means everyone must risk their lives. ?? But how about dedicating your life to nature? We need rangers, protestors, community workers & co. at the front, which literally put their lives on the line for the species next to them. They should get much more credit, resources & gratitude than they currently get.? ? AND we need lawyers, artists, CEOs, marketing managers, accountants, politicians & co. to dedicate their skills, influence & lives to nature to change this world. I try to lead by example & dedicate my life to nature. It's not an easy road, but it's worth it every single day. As always, I don't write this here to ruin your week. Rather I just want to nudge you to reflect on your priorities & what truly matters to you. You don't have to answer with yes to Paul's question today. But you can take the first step towards it. P.S. My latest piece with European Greens Journal. Miigwech, thank you for the platform. Prayers up for land defenders across the globe, fighting for what remains of our only home. Prayers up more hear our calls. "Yet, too often in climate spaces, particularly those led by the so-called West, civil disobedience garners responses ranging from amusement to annoyance. The “real work” –?climate policy, aspirational goals, electrification of the grid?– is being done with little to no acknowledgment of what it takes to achieve substantive, lasting change. Consumerism and decolonisation are almost entirely absent concepts. Indigenous land stewardship is largely relegated to romanticised imagery and phrases. Civil rights are not and have never been comfortably won. It defies logic that oligarchs and corporations destroying the natural world for profit would be any less violent to change than oppressive regimes benefitting the few. It defies logic to trivialise human beings responding with immediacy and urgency to report after report speaking of climate boiling, tipping points affecting billions of creatures, species extinctions. It is almost as if those with the macro solutions can envisage no other way of being than that which has brought humankind to this point, that we are utterly incapable of reclaiming our collectivity, our purpose beyond extractivism and creature comforts." https://lnkd.in/envccf9R

I take pride in working in animal nutrition and feeding people as part of this industry. Governments allow deforestation and pollution, then come out with laws to tax on the name of Climate change....is this known as creating problems to profit?
