???? World Literacy Day: Give a Child a Book and Open a Universe of Possibilities! ??? Imagine a world where every child has the power to explore new worlds, dream big, and unlock their potential—all through the simple act of reading. ?? Today, let’s celebrate the magic of books and the endless possibilities they offer young minds. When we give a child a book, we’re not just handing over paper and ink; we’re gifting them a ticket to explore different cultures, expand their imagination, and understand the world. Why is this important? Literacy is the foundation for all learning. It’s the key that unlocks doors to education, employment, and personal growth. Yet, millions of children worldwide still lack access to basic reading materials. We can change that—one book, one child at a time. How can you help? ? Donate: Whether to a local library, a school, or a literacy organization, your contribution makes a difference. ? Volunteer: Share your love of reading by volunteering at schools, libraries, or literacy programs. ? Advocate: Raise awareness about literacy. Share stories, talk about your favorite books, and encourage others to do the same. Every child -and some adults- deserves the chance to open a book and enter a universe of possibilities. ?? Let’s make that happen! ??What’s your favorite childhood book? Share in the comments! Let’s inspire each other and spread the joy of reading. ???? Live Laugh and Love ?? Here is an eye-opener: According to a study by the Literacy Trust, students who had an author visit were twice as likely to read above their expected level for their age compared to those who didn’t have an author visit. A survey by Scholastic found that 68% of students reported being more excited about reading after an author visit, and 40% of teachers observed an increase in students' independent reading following a visit. Research from the National Literacy Trust shows that 56% of students said they enjoyed reading more after meeting an author, with 70% of students more likely to recommend books to their friends. There are dozens of more studies on how author visits and speakers positively impact students yet in many schools across the national they A. Don't see value in it & B. Don't have the funding for it. That is why I started the non-profit EmpowerLit-Literacy & Beyond to create a world where every child, regardless of background, feels valued and connected, with the literacy skills to navigate life's challenges. Our goal this year is to visit 25 under privileged schools to give them the same experience I was given as a child through my education as a student in the Sayville Public School District This year we have 10 schools already lined up & we are waiting for funding from every day people like yourself who want to increase a love for learning through author visits Check out my new organization & if you feel inspired, donate to sponsor a school: https://lnkd.in/gH9ku3ht

?? This Giving Tuesday, Let’s Make Literacy Accessible for Every Child ?? Did you know that millions of children struggle with reading because they lack access to the right tools and resources? Teach My Kid to Read is on a mission to change that. Unlike other literacy organizations, we focus on a unique niche—bridging the gap between evidence-based reading instruction and the everyday resources parents, caregivers, and librarians need to support struggling readers. We specialize in helping librarians understand the science of reading and empowering communities to access decodable books—a game-changer for children with learning differences like dyslexia. By donating to Teach My Kid to Read, you’re helping: ?? Train librarians and educators to better support struggling readers. ?? Provide families with practical, evidence-based tools to teach their kids to read. ?? Ensure decodable books are available in libraries and homes across the country. Together, we can make reading accessible for every child. Every dollar counts—your support could be the spark that changes a child’s life forever. ? Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gk6CZk_T ?? Let’s turn the page for literacy. Thank you for being part of this vital mission! ??
