Actually told to me a few years ago.
Please think on this: your team "beat" other teams at a certain competition on a certain day and time. You had so much time and certain equipment with which to work. Most likely, not all teams were there. Winning is fun and a great achievement, but had anything in that short list above changed, the outcome might have been very different.
Competition matters because it's about being better than you were yesterday. Your team is different - not necessarily better - than other teams. Its not about "beating" or scoring better than others, especially since most every judge out there is only reacting in a "like/dislike" thought process, which is completely normal!
Others may not have facilities to practice or maybe their team can only meet twice a week for a total of three hours. While your team practices 10 hours each week.
Do the best you can with what you have, that's all anyone can ask. If you are not doing your best all the time, you have no one else to blame.
