Spotting Skin Cancer Early? Use the ABCDE rule as your guide! ?? A - Asymmetry - Check if one half of the mole doesn't match the other half. ?? B - Border - Look for edges that are irregular, ragged, or blurred. ?? C - Color - Be cautious if the color varies from one area to another (shades of brown, black, red, white, or blue). ?? D - Diameter - Moles larger than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser) could be of concern. ?? E - Evolving - Any change in size, shape, color, or symptoms (like itching or bleeding) should be evaluated. Early detection saves lives. Of all the words in the English language, there are few that evoke more fear than the word “cancer.” Some cancer treatments like chemotherapy can have side effects like hair loss which could be something you may be experiencing if you are someone suffering from breast cancer. There are basically two types of therapies that are the most common, radiation and chemotherapy. Both of these treatments cause a person to lose their hair but in different ways. If you have to undergo one or both of these treatments you should be aware of the effect they have in relation to hair loss so you can be better prepared.

Whilst talking to the Px I observed a dark spot in the RE iris ???. I was very intrigued to see what this was, so a quick view under the slit lamp ?? showed a ‘small circular and elevated pigmented lesion on the inferior iris. An Anterior OCT helped me assess this lesion a bit further. The scan showed an elevated lesion on the iris, which created a dark shadow below the lesion, suggesting that the lesion is very dense. ——————————————————— Next Step——-> Off to HES for a 2nd opinion to rule out a Melanoma ?? ——————————————————— ?Does this lesion increase the risk of Glaucoma? ?How would you differentiate this from a melanoma? We suggest checking your moles using a simple and effective method — the ABCDE international melanoma diagnostic system, specially developed by oncologists: A — Asymmetry. Asymmetry of the mole (one half of the mole does not correspond to the other); B — Border irregularity. Uneven edges (the borders of moles are uneven, jagged, unclear); C — Color variegation. Discoloration (different parts of the mole are not the same color); D — Diameter. Change in diameter (mole diameter is more than 6 mm); E — Evolution.
