Food and housing insecurity are deeply connected. Low-income neighborhoods often face a shortage of grocery store options, also known as “food desserts.” The inability to afford food may force people to choose between paying for housing or food, potentially leading to housing instability and homelessness. Additionally, homelessness itself increases food insecurity and hunger, exacerbating the limited access to obtaining and preparing nutritious meals. Increased food insecurity can lead to a decrease in physical and cognitive function. At TPCS, we see and hear this on a regular basis from the mothers we serve. That’s why we provide efficient and effective assistance including emergency housing with private bedrooms with shared communal spaces, clinical services, and supportive programs that help our moms and children get on a path to stability and independence. For 20+ years, the families we serve have been underwritten by governmental agencies, and it is our goal to support all these women and families. Therefore, we are raising funds for our Charity Care Program that will allow us to do even more for our families in need! Here’s where you come in. You can join us in helping women and families overcome the obstacles of homelessness and abuse by starting a company or individual Charity Care Program Campaign leading up to National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in November or simply donate today by clicking the link below. To learn more about how you can partake in this month-long campaign, please contact Dawn at [email protected]. It’s a super simple way to raise awareness and engage your friends, family, colleagues and followers to help end these crises. #everydollarcounts #fundraising #homelessness #hunger #charitycareprogram #newjersey

?? This month, Stats Canada released new insights on charitable giving using 2022 data, showing that the total amount donated fell for the first time since 2016, with less donors and smaller donations. While national trends may be down—Ontario and BC led the overall decline—we are always thankful for our donors, whose generosity has fueled continued growth at the OCF. Without their support, It wouldn’t be possible to help the organizations that make the community a better place. Supporting the Poorest Among Us: A Call for Volunteers and Donations In many parts of the world, extreme poverty remains a harsh reality. Among the most affected are children and families who struggle daily to meet their basic needs. These individuals live without adequate food, shelter, and healthcare, often facing insurmountable challenges that prevent them from breaking the cycle of poverty. The Harsh Reality For very poor people, every day is a battle for survival. Children, who should be enjoying their childhood and attending school, are instead forced to work or beg to help support their families. Malnutrition is rampant, leading to severe health issues and stunted growth. Without proper education and resources, the future for these children looks bleak. Why We Need Your Help Organizations like the Feed in Need Foundation work tirelessly to support these vulnerable populations. However, we cannot do it alone. We need volunteers and donations to continue and expand our efforts. Your contribution can provide immediate relief and long-term support, giving these children and families a chance at a better life. How You Can Make a Difference 1. Donate: Every dollar counts. Your financial contributions can help us provide essential resources such as food, clothing, and educational materials. Even a small donation can have a significant impact. 2. Volunteer: Your time and skills are invaluable. Whether it’s helping to prepare and distribute meals, organizing donation drives, or providing educational support, donate school supplies, used clothes or toys, your involvement can make a real difference in the lives of those in need. 3. Spread the Word: Raise awareness about the plight of the very poor and encourage others to get involved. Share our mission with your network, and inspire others to join the cause. Join Us in Making a Difference We invite you to join us in our mission to support the poorest and most vulnerable members of our society. Your generosity and compassion can change lives and bring hope to those who have none. Together, we can build a brighter future for all. #EndPoverty #SupportThePoor #Volunteer #DonateNow #FeedInNeed #ChildhoodWithoutHunger #CommunitySupport #MakeADifference #HopeForAll

New research reveals that over four million Australians are currently living in ‘hygiene poverty, with more than one in seven (15%) respondents to a recent survey skimping on essential personal hygiene items for financial reasons. Worse still, for over 3.6 million of these people, it's the first time they’ve had issues affording personal hygiene products.???? ?? As the costs of housing and food increase, items like toothpaste, shampoo, soap and hygiene health items have, for some, become unattainable “luxuries”. In our latest venture to support the community, we are putting together a pantry with a difference. Our pantry will be focused on providing personal hygiene products. CAN YOU HELP? Do you have new unopened products at home that you can donate? Perhaps next time you are at the shop can you pick up an item or two for our pantry? All donations will be gratefully received at our Community Centre office. Hopefully we will have our pantry (in Barramul St) up and running soon.? #HygienePantry #communitysupportingcommunity #bringingthecommunitytogether
