With the closings of Carney Hospital and Nashoba Valley Medical Center this past weekend, we are reminded of this alarming statistic highlighted in the Primary Care Dashboard The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) published earlier this year in collaboration with MHQP: In 2023, 41.2% of Massachusetts residents reported difficulty obtaining necessary health care in the previous 12 months, an increase from 33.0% just two years earlier. This concerning trend is poised to get even worse in the wake of these closings, especially for underserved populations.
