Was great to get out of the office for a few hours to talk year 10 students about what we do in data and analytics and why it’s so much fun! Not surprisingly the majority of students hadn’t heard about data analytics as a job and hadn’t got any idea what we do. THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Here are 4 words I never thought I’d say: I’m running for office. I’ve figured something out about myself over these past few years. When times are tough, I lean in. I don’t run from difficult conversations. I don’t feel daunted by big challenges. I don’t let any one setback get me down. Above all else, I care deeply about people. I’ve had the great opportunity to focus my career specifically on a People/HR angle the past several years, helping businesses grow sustainably while also creating incredible work environments, and it’s been the most fulfilling work of my life. And yet, I feel there’s still more work to do, which is why today I’m announcing my candidacy for the Metropolitan Council, District 8. We face a great many challenges down here in Louisiana’s capital city, Baton Rouge. Our infrastructure is woefully unprepared for a worsening climate, with no plan in sight. Our talent is being exported en masse, instead of laying down roots at home. Our community faces challenges with homelessness, police reform, and splitting apart. Things could be a lot better, and none of the solutions will be easy. But if I’ve learned anything in this life, it’s this: when we put the focus on people, everything else tends to work itself out. I’m running for city council to put the focus back on helping people. I believe we can not only fix our floods, but lead the nation in stormwater management. I believe we can reform our police department, and rebuild trust in the community. I believe we can make a capital city that we love so much, that our young professionals choose to stay for opportunities here. One of my favorite quotes feels fitting today: "Far and away?the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." There's no challenge we can't overcome - and I’m ready to dive in. Will you join me?
