"Just switch it off, them switch it back on again" Wise words indeed, received over the years from various highly experienced technical support teams when equipment and software suddenly goes down the toilet ??! Well, my LinkedIn feed seems to be "Up the Swanee" (Is that even a phrase?) today and no amount of switching on and off, sticking paper clips into sockets, or generally shaking things violently have made it any better. ?? 4 x different polls asking me "WHAT ARE YOU DOING THIS WEEKEND?" ?? 5 x 8 second video posts of people MIMING TO RANDOM SONGS just to "bring in the weekend". ?? 2 x Polls about HEATING (Should we have it on yet?) ?? 3 x Posts complaining about those HEATING POLLS! ?? 6 x (Completely out of context) HOLIDAY SELFIES on an unrelated topic! ??♂? ?? Endless "CONTRIBUTIONS" to questions I have no interest in, from people I don't care about! ?? So many TRUMP related posts I thought the orange tint was a fault with my monitors! ?? ?? A couple of "NEW KPI's" (you know = Keep People Informed etc) memes - I'm convinced I'm being personally targeted on these given how long they've been around and how much I've moaned about them ?? I've only been dipping into LinkedIn here and there today so could have been far worse. Please can I just return to the bang average stream of content and at least have a fighting chance of seeing something that may be of interest or use to me ????

“I’m sending lots of DMs, I just don’t get replies” I received this message today and wanted to give you My top 5 tips to increase your reply rate. 1. Make your reach out personal - pay attention to what your prospect is posting and start a conversation around that specific thing. 2. Avoid sending copy and pasted messages - nothing annoys me more than a crappy copy and pasted message that’s got no thought or consideration for who I am and what I do. 3. Do not under any circumstances pitch your services before even speaking to someone - think about walking down the street and randomly asking someone to marry you. It’s not going to work is it? 4. Engage with your ideal clients posts on their social media - you must stay top of mind and build relationships with people. Commit to 3 likes, 2 comments and one message around their post. 5. Reply to their stories with a genuine response - if you notice someone has gone on holiday, then send a message with a question surrounding that. I mean who doesn’t like to talk about their holidays right? Anyways… I hope this helped John

This isn’t my posting time but I needed to drop this here For some days now I have been having this down time not wanting to do anything online. Physically I’ve been doing alot at home and work but not online I’ve tried encouraging myself but it’s not working I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels this way sometimes I had to even delete all my scheduled posts these few days so that i don’t come online But then this morning I decided to write this because i owe my connections and followers an explanation. Dear YOU, Everyone's doing good, except you. You're working late nights. You're following every bit of advice. But at the end of the day, you're getting 0 results. Every time you see those headlines: "I went from 0-10k followers in just 3 months." "I got 10 inbound leads from just 1 post." "I lost 20 lbs in just one month." ...you doubt yourself whether any of it is worth it. And guess what? This frustration, over time, makes you quit. I'm saying this to you because I've been there too. But unlike 99% of people, I tried to find out a solution. Hello connections !! ???? I hope you all are doing great. Posting after 2 days !! Let me just summarize it up. Day before yesterday I got up in the morning and saw a text from one of my friends saying "Hey nikhat. Is everything alright ?? I cannot see your account on LinkedIn. This message made me shocked. Immediately I opened LinkedIn and got to know that my account has been restricted by LinkedIn because of some protection policies to save my account from unauthorized access. Seeing this, I got tensed and was stressed out that what to do or what not to do. The very first call I made was to CA Madhu Thakuria. I called her and told everything. She made me calm that don't worry everything will be alright; do Google search about this and contact LinkedIn Support. Find out something that how to sort this problem. She said that "Dear, this is what is life all about. Everything goes smooth and one random day all of a sudden you have to face a challenge". This statement of hers made me realize that yesss, we need to overcome the challenges and difficulties of our life by acting wisely instead of getting tensed or scared. And also I texted few of my friends to help me regarding the issue; they suggested me to watch youtube tutorials and all. I did the same watched few of the videos and also searched on Google. Then, finally came to know that I have to upload few of my government issued documents to LinkedIn in order to sign in my account and have to wait for 24 to 48 hours for their response. I did complete the entire procedure for the same and luckily got an e-mail the same day stating that will look into my account and soon will put my account back on LinkedIn within 24 to 48 hours. The very next morning, I got up and saw text from CA Madhu Thakuria and also an e-mail from LinkedIn showing that they had put my account back. I felt so happy after knowing this because I was scared ; thinking that if in case they won't give my account back then my work of posting of 7 to 8 days which I had done ; will be deleted permanently and I had to start it all again from scratch. But fortunately, God willing I got my account back. And continuing with my post today. ?? The lesson which I learnt from this incident is that "You should always be prepared for such kind of uncertainties in your life" because you never know that would be happening next. And also my knowledge increased by this incident ; I came to know that how to solve such kind of issues regarding professional platforms , etc. So, at the end, I just wanted to convey that "One should always be ready to learn and implement" Thanks to CA Madhu Thakuria , Naina Thadani , Asad Ahmed for helping me with this. The social media dilemma. Once upon a time, in a land and time not far away... Titles, accolades, status and recognition were hard earned, based on genuine credentials and accomplishments. From people to people. Enter social media, and enter a never-ending marathon of self-assigned titles, self-glorifying claims, and self-attributed accomplishments. The bigger, the better. Actually, the more unrealistic and exaggerated, the better. This blurring of lines between earned and deserved recognition and self-promotion not only dilutes the value of genuine credentials, but has also made it challenging for end users, employers, and knowledge seekers to distinguish true expertise from mere online posturing and those blowing their own trumpet. What do you think of this phenomenon? What do you look for in someone’s profile? How do you know that person and their claims are genuine? Want to take time off with the kids but worrying about getting sales and new customers for September? You may have limited work time right now, so my top tip is that when you do have time to focus on work, do ONE thing that day to help keep you visible. Don't go quiet on social media for August and then suddenly blast people in September. Have social posts and emails scheduled to go out over the Summer and use any work time you do have to create some spontaneous content to keep you front of mind. Here are some ideas: ?? A Story on Insta & Facebook showing a glimpse of what you're up to that day (People LOVE to see behind-the-scenes of our lives!) ?? A Reel or short video clip with suggestions for summer activities they can be doing at home (Demonstrate your knowledge & expertise) ?? Depending on the relationship you have with your customers, pop them a DM and see how they are coping with the holidays (Nurture your best relationships - they will be your loyal fans) ?? Share a fun photo or memory of something lovely that happened in your class/event/course and remind people when you are starting back up again Which one will you try?

I think it is very counterproductive and detracts from the usefulness of this platform, when job search and service pages are paywalled behind LinkedIn Premium. The reason we're searching and/or offering our services is because we need money, pure and simple. Asking for $70/mo to view/apply to job listings and see/respond to service requests is heartless and asking for too much from the very people this platform is designed to serve. Do better.

It's a good idea to refresh your LinkedIn headline from time to time and change up some of your keywords and accomplishments. ?? You'll want to include the job title first that you are seeking, followed by a few keywords, a statistic or result, and a mission statement about yourself. ??
