Earlier today, the United States Department of Defense entered into a bilateral, non-binding Security of Supply Arrangement with the Federal Ministry of Defence for the Federal Republic of Germany: https://lnkd.in/dr_NCagZ ? “This SOSA is an important step forward and further strengthens the robust defense partnership between Germany and the United States,” said Dr. William LaPlante, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. ? The #SOSA arrangement will enable both the U.S. and Germany to acquire the industrial resources they need to quickly meet defense requirements, resolve unanticipated disruptions that challenge defense capabilities, and promote supply chain resiliency. Special Operations Forces make necessary and unique contributions to national defense. The #SOF Truths were set to guide day-to-day activities as well as strategic planning and vision. They are a reminder that successful Special Operations Forces activities require long term and specialized training. 1. Humans are more important than hardware. 2. Quality is better than quantity. 3. Special Operations Forces cannot be mass produced. 4. Competent Special Operations Forces cannot be created after emergencies occur. 5. Most special operations require non-SOF support. New paper from NATO: “Hybrid Threats and Hybrid Warfare Reference Curriculum". It highlights how state actors using hybrid threats, military and non-military tactics in order to reach there short term and long term objectives. ?? It emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to identify, anticipate, and mitigate risks. Key themes include understanding threat vectors, roles of various actors, and counter-strategies. Three insights/recommendations: ? All actors, incl. e.g.: small-medium enterprises and smaller agencies must recognize diverse risks and build resilience. ?Collaboration with larger organizations is essential for effective information sharing and resource allocation. ?Continuous education and training are crucial to developing skills for recognizing and responding to hybrid threats.
