Professional curiosity. Yesterday was our annual strategic planning day for Home-Start Kettering. I always enjoy these days. It’s a chance to reflect on our 3 year plan. What’s working and what needs improvement. We take a deep dive across our 4 pillars: 1?? Support: how we show up for our families 2?? Funding: how we raise funding and what we do with it 3?? Staff & Volunteers: how we maintain a healthy and motivated team 4?? Operational Standards: how we operate effectively and efficiently I’m surrounded by a brilliant and diverse team. A team with way more experience in this space than me. I have so much to learn - which included the phrase “professional curiosity.” We were discussing safeguarding - a really important area for us with our support for families. The context being that no one should be afraid to challenge something. To ask those difficult questions. To not simply assume that everything is ok. Yes this conversation was in relation to our work at Home-Start Kettering Area. But the principles can be applied anywhere. In business for sure. Ask those difficult questions. Challenge assumptions. Ask why is this so. Maintain that professional curiosity. We’ll all be better for it. PS here’s a photo of our recent new cohort of volunteers. They really are an amazing bunch

I’m finishing my 4th week at CodeSignal and it’s been a whirlwind of new people, ideas, and culture. I’m traveling home from my first onsite with them and I’d like to reflect a bit on what brought me here. Back in 2013, web development was seeing a bit of a revolution as we moved from static, back-end, technologies to heavy front-end focused “Single Page Applications” (SPAs).? My good friend Dennis Burton and I were doing a lot with these budding technologies and trying to figure out a fun and exciting way to teach the concept to others. We came up with a full-day CodeMash Conference workshop (hundreds of learners) with an accompanying application called Choose Your Own Application.? It took inspiration from the well-loved childhood book series to let the learner make choices as they built a full-blown application.? The learner was given the opportunity to choose their frontend framework (Backbone or Knockout… it was 2013), their language (JavaScript or CoffeeScript… see 2013), their backend framework (Node.js, Rails, or ASP.NET), and their deployment platform (Heroku or Azure).? There were dozens of permutations.? It was a LOT of content.? A LOT to test. The experience was VERY well received.? I was so honored and humbled by the number of people who learned that day.? After it was done, we asked: can we scale this to other content paths?? We laughed it off and said “nah, that was fun but it would be too much work”. If you know me, I get my energy from helping other people learn things.? That’s why I joined Khan Academy and stayed with them for 8 years.? Ultimately, it’s what led me to take the Director of Content and Content Platform at CodeSignal.? Although it’s not _exactly_ the same thing, I’m a part of a team now that is scaling the ideas behind Choose Your Own Application.? CodeSignal Learn (https://lnkd.in/gXHuMEKQ) is the most innovative technical learning platform I’ve seen yet.? We’re developing content at a VERY fast pace and we will for a very long time. Unlike static video or blog-base learning, we have a PRACTICE-based platform with an AI teacher/tutor named Cosmo (a space corgi!).? It’s all about mastery-based learning inside the browser IDE and Cosmo guiding you the entire way.? The entire experience is in a single place. I have only been here 4 weeks and I’m already extremely proud of what we’re building.? Watch this space.? We have some amazing content coming your way.
We had a great time this week in Denver, CO! ? The week was filled with insightful sessions, thought-provoking discussions, and amazing cross-team collaboration ?? We're looking forward to what's next!

Being part of efforts that help bridge the employment gap are of huge importance to me. One of the reasons why I love working with Startup Hakk is because they are succeeding at bridging that employment gap through training and job placement.
Helping partners succeed is what our team does day in and day out. Great work Josh Lawton and Norman E.!

?????? ????????, ?????? ??????????????????????????: ???????? ?????????? ??????????????, ?????? ?????????????????????? The saying goes: New Year, New You. But at Walker Wayland, we see it a little differently. We believe in empowering you to stay true to yourself—just better. For some time now, the Walker Wayland Board and I have been reflecting on what truly makes our association special. Toward the end of last year, we had a lightbulb moment. It became clear that the most powerful element we offer is this: the ability for our members to be who they truly are, but better. Better through access to a collaborative and supportive community. Better through shared knowledge and resources. Better through an association that is always working to lift each other higher. 2025 is here, and with it comes fresh opportunities to rethink how we approach success. This year, our focus is sharper than ever: helping our members and partners reach their goals with a personal touch. At Walker Wayland, we’re not here to tell you to change who you are. We’re here to enhance what you already do best. From embracing innovation to collaborating with integrity, we aim to ensure that every step you take with us feels intentional and impactful. We are excited to support you in unlocking the next level of your potential. Because With us, you do you. Just better. Here’s to a meaningful and successful 2025 for you, your teams, and the communities you touch. Let’s make it count together. - Jason Croston

?P. BRIJLALL????????? After a workplace accident, WSIB put me through hell and made my injuries twice as worse ? permanently then robbed me of my benefits just because of the colour of my skin. Sandra Di Carlo the case manager took me out from physio therapy that was helping me with my recovery and sent me to wsib Doctor and physio therapy that made my injuries twice as worse permanently. Deb Remekie, The lady at WSIB that robbed me of my benefit, she said that I can sell jewelry, she thinks because I am black I can steal jewelry and sell, so she decided to rob me of my benefit. And it's not a joke she said it verbally and in writing. And believed it or not the APPEALS TRIBUNAL agreed with her without a doubt or any question Atal. The Tribunal did not look at my file, apparently they don't even care to look at my file. THIS ORGANIZATION SHOULD OF NOT EXIST IN CANADA? ???THIS IS CANADA; WHAT A SHAME ?Doug Ford <[email protected]> Thank you for reaching out with details about your experience with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Since 1974, CHEO has been a pillar of the Ottawa community. Their team has grown remarkably since then, providing education and research and supporting more than 500,000 patients each year. Last week, I had the chance to celebrate these 50 years of service and thank the incredible staff for all their work.
