Meet Bean, an adorable AMC patient who has been cared for by our Surgical and Internal Medicine Services! ?? Her human recently shared, "Bean saw Dr. Daniel Spector for issues with her hind legs. She happened to be having unrelated gastrointestinal issues at the same time. He was incredibly patient, addressing not only her leg issue, but also taking the time to reach out to her internist to create a treatment plan for her tummy. She recovered from both issues, thanks to both Dr. Spector and Dr. Dennis Slade." We’re thrilled to hear that Bean is feeling better! ???? She’s pictured here with Dr. Spector and Dr. Katherine Wagner, part of the amazing team that helped her on her journey to recovery.

Exciting progress in stroke recovery! ?? We're thrilled to share the 4th patient example from our recent AMBLE clinical trial. ??♀???♂? This participant, like many others in the study, was at least 3 years post-CVA. Not only did walking speed increase significantly, but the change in hip rotation is truly remarkable! This highlights the potential of AMBLE to address long-term gait impairments and improve overall mobility. Reminder: All participants in our trials used the AMBLE for 9 hours during the study, with assessments conducted without the device to isolate its therapeutic effect. #strokerecovery #neurorehabilitation #AMBLE

When you work with best physicians
Heather and Phil Freeman didn't know what to expect when their son Riggs was born with Pierre Robin syndrome and a cleft palate. As first-time parents, they were initially anxious but found reassurance through the exceptional care of Dr. Michael Jaskolka and the multidisciplinary team at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Riggs underwent three surgeries before his first birthday and is now a thriving three-year-old. Watch the Freeman family's full story here: https://lnkd.in/e-b3J66S

Aspiration of gastric contents is potentially deadly, making assessment of whether a patient is sufficiently fasted imperative for clinical management. Unfortunately fasting guidelines provide an anachronistic guesstimate at best, and are confounded by a range of factors that delay gastric emptying. More recently the increasing use of GLP-1 agonists - and the mechanism they use to stimulate weight loss - has resulted in significant delays to medical treatment. This is where #ultrasound comes into its own. Utilising a simple protocol clinicians can qualitatively and quantitatively assess gastric contents to determine the most appropriate treatment pathway in a fast, non-invasive way. Learn how to scan for yourself at Australia’s first course dedicated to gastric ultrasound at Zedu Ultrasound Training Solutions - dates throughout the year or on demand. #POCUS #ultrasoundtraining

The Medical Side of Duchenne: ?? The Stress of Clinical Trials While there’s still no cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, we certainly understand far more than we did 20 years ago. We also have more treatment options now. All that was accomplished with the information we gathered from clinical trials. Unfortunately, a very heavy burden is placed on the Duchenne family that participates in a trial. From travel to family separation to medical trauma, every single family member pays a big price.
