What’s the difference between an apartment and a flat? Is it just a matter of which content you happen to live on? While “flat” is undoubtedly more common in the UK, with the US usually opting for “apartment”, here in Australia, we like to use both to describe two subtly different dwelling types. Understanding the distinction, therefore, can be helpful – especially if you’re in the market to buy.
