Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) codes classify business entities on the basis of their predominant activity and are used to compile and analyse industry statistics. To maintain international comparability, ensure statistics reflect the real world, and meet customer needs, Stats NZ Tatauranga Aotearoa is evaluating industrial classifications and assessing what updates may be required. They were last reviewed in 2006. Stats NZ is seeking feedback by requesting submissions from everyone interested in industrial classifications (ANZSIC and also related classifications such as BIC and NZSIOC). The feedback will be used to define and assess a set of options for consideration. It’s important that construction and infrastructure businesses participate, as some industry sectors are missing or aggregated in the current ANZSIC codes.
