This video examines the dichotomy between oligarchical totalitarianism and a form of democractic socialism which picks up from my previous post where I shared a video featuring Marianne Williamson discussing these same concepts, but not in quite the same language. This video compares and contrasts George Orwell’s 1984 with Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World through a thoughtful analysis that presciently depicts what is happening in our modern society in exploring the ways and means through which people are controlled and manipulated. In essence, both works describe a kind of enslavement where one form of enslavement is akin to a dictatorship while the other kind of enslavement is one that is self-imposed through hedonism and apathy. This particular video explores how a dictatorship can take hold in both of the aforementioned scenarios. When people are asleep or choose to escape rather than confront or challenge the forces that are at work, their freedoms and civil liberties being stripped away will go unnoticed. Under a true dictatorship, however, when brute force is applied, it will already have been too late.
