An honest conversation. Not about diversity but about reality... That is probably the best way to describe my conversation with Ruben Brave. He is the first man on Women Disrupting Tech. And for good reasons. With Dutch New Narrative Lab, he is literally creating a new narrative. A narrative that does justice to what our world really looks like. One in which all people have access to innovative entrepreneurship, regardless of their background. In episode 62 of Women Disrupting Tech, we discuss his experiences with racism in the boardroom, the systemic barriers for those who do not fit the system, and the role of men in removing these barriers. He also has some advice for men who want to contribute to the new narrative: start by asking a woman what she experienced and listen to her story. Good to see that so much progress is happening with getting more women into tech and STEM. When i started out 20 years ago it was pretty much a man’s world , but since then so many women have made a massive impact and it has really started changing direction. I am even speaking to more girls than ever who are now considering a career in STEM or tech. We are not there yet , but good to see the work of inspiring ladies like Rebecca Simmons at Riverline leading the charge. What do you think has caused this change and how to we keep on overcoming stereotypes and perceptions to keep this area growing?
