The industry of reality capture has moved from getting the newest shiny toy and doing things with it to figuring out what you need to do and having that determine the equipment you need. You might not need a $65k laser scanner when a piece of software and a 360 camera will give you what you ultimately need. Something I’m jumping into at work is taking the data we’ve already gotten for Task A and figuring out what else we could use it for. Technology is always changing and you’ve got to keep your head on a swivel so you don’t get left behind.
