Did you know that today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, & Biphobia? Nicknamed "IDAHOBIT," this day has more significance now than ever. The theme this year is: No one left behind. Equality, Freedom, and Justice for All. This important day traces its roots back to May 17, 1990, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. (Can't believe how?not?long ago that was...). This led to the creation of the day in 2004 to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ rights and advocate for the marginalized. As most of us are aware, our community has certainly progressed, but we still face significant challenges. The recent rise in anti-trans legislation and tighter grip around freedom in schools are some of the many ways that our community continues to feel isolated, blamed, and misunderstood. This is why the work that we all do is SO important. It goes beyond the duties of a normal job. In fact, some of you may even feel emotionally fatigued, perpetually climbing uphill in a society that tells us that our community is a burden, not a value. A lot of you have been doing this work for a long time and may feel disheartened from time to time. That is okay. It is not our job to be unaffected. However, it is our job to continue to hold each other tightly in community. When we all focus our collective strength for progress, we see truly incredible changes take place. We've seen it before with Stonewall, The Matthew Shepard Act, Marriage Equality in the U.S., or through the string of recently elected Queer individuals all across the U.S. Our community is stronger, bigger, and capable of more than ever before. Please don't give up. And remember, in the words of Martin Luther King Jr., "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." No one can be left behind in this movement. ?? ?????
Today, on International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), and everyday let’s remember and advance this essential truth. No matter what country we call home, LGBTQ+ people deserve equal rights and the ability to live safely, freely, and as their authentic selves. Full stop. ? #IDAHOBIT

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia—an opportunity for us all to renew and deepen our commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ people around the globe.? ? Here at Out & Equal, we are proud to support the LGBTQ+ community in the United States and around the world. Through our global work, which includes the United States, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, we help multinational companies build more inclusive workplaces and cultures of belonging. These partnerships have been endlessly rewarding—making space for the cross-cultural dialogue and problem-solving we need to protect LGBTQ+ rights and advance LGBTQ+ equity, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace and beyond. ? As we know, this work is increasingly vital. In the last few years, countries such as Uganda, Iraq, and Russia have made it a crime for LGBTQ+ individuals to live and love openly. Meanwhile, the progress the LGBTQ+ community has made in other countries is under threat, as anti-LGBTQ+ violence continues to rise.? ? No matter what country we call home, LGBTQ+ people deserve equal rights and the ability to live safely, freely, and as their authentic self. Full stop. So, let us continue to stand strong and united against homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia—no matter where it happens in the world. Today, tomorrow, and every day moving forward. #IDAHOBIT #BusinessOfBelonging
