The best fundraisers do two things: 1. They help ensure the internal "house" is in order (ie they manage up to make sure leadership is bought in on what needs to happen for the right resources to show up) and 2. They know how to tell the story of their organization without it seeming salesly and by building relationships at the same time. Both of these skill sets are not about fundraising. They are entirely about people. This is the season to remember that humans do the work. It's incredibly draining and hard but the best can do it without thinking twice.

Grateful to serve the grantees of the Simons Foundation yesterday and got to catch up with friends Brooke Richie-Babbage, molly delano, and Becky Endicott, CFRE! My roundtable was about Demystifying Money...you know I'm all about talking about the money, honey! Some powerful takeaways: 1) We all have money baggage and trauma no matter who you are, how much you had (or didn't) and it takes conscious, intentional effort to recognize and shift the thought patterns. 2) Your self-worth should not be tied to outcomes. Whether you get the gift or not is ultimately not up to you. Regardless, you are worthy. 3) Fundraising is like creating art. You are not going to be for everybody, so find your people and help them be part of something greater than themselves. 4) Money is energy. We are but the vessels through which it flows so we need to be conscious of the blocks that we construct that restrict the flow. 5) Change starts with our identities and our decision to BE the kind of person who embraces fundraising. Thanks so much to Whitney Gaskins PhD, CDP, Jenny Quinn, Steven Melendez, Kyle Marian Viterbo, Jennifer Brooks, Robert Fernandez, Ran Yan

As Sioux Falls continues to grow, we face a critical challenge: creating pipelines of opportunity for individuals from underserved populations to find their own path to success. LOT is doing just that—empowering justice-impacted individuals, students, and emerging leaders to transform their lives and, in turn, our community. Here’s the impact: Justice-impacted participants who complete LOT re-offend at?less than 30%, compared to the state’s average of mid-70%. Over?72% of graduates?report being more intentional in their professional lives. But this work doesn’t happen without support. From Dec. 3rd–17th, we’re running our?Bridging the Gap Fundraising Drive, and I’m asking YOU to join me in this mission. Your contribution helps sustain this critical work and ensures that more individuals have the tools to succeed. Whether it’s a personal donation or your organization becoming a sponsor (which also provides seats for your team in this accredited leadership program), every bit counts. I’ve committed hundreds of hours, alongside my small business, to this cause—not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s a direct investment in the long-term health and sustainability of our community. ?? Visit?https://lnkd.in/gv3XszP2?to learn more, hear the stories, and see the impact firsthand. Together, we can build a community that thrives because everyone has a chance to climb their ladder of success.

"In a world where our organizations are being called to do more with less, and where every decision impacts real lives in our communities, we need each other more than ever. This is where magic happens—where a conversation over coffee could spark your next innovative program, where sharing struggles leads to breakthrough solutions, and where you'll find your tribe of fellow changemakers who understand exactly what keeps you up at night. When we come together, we're not just sharing strategies—we're sharing hope, inspiration, and collective wisdom." - Nisi Bennett, AJB Consulting Group Gain insight and inspiration from Nisi and other nonprofit leaders at the 2025 Texas Nonprofit Summit! Our communications strategies are insightful, intentional, and inclusive because they are informed by our work.
