In our data-driven world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of letting numbers define our decisions. But as Kirsten Wittmann highlights, the best decisions often come from a holistic view that combines data with intuition, and experience; referred to as a “Two-Eyed Seeing Approach”. Hear more about this topic by listening to Kirsten’s Tedx Minneapolis video, it’s a thought-provoking exploration of how we can use data to inform, but not dictate, our processes and choices.
My Military and Ojibwe background provides structure and intuition for upstream support services in health, housing, and creative problem-solving for complex issues.
MY TEDxMinneapolis SPEECH IS POSTED!! TED added a disclaimer because I talk about my ketamine trip, but I hope you can watch and see that was just one example among many other of how I believe we can integrate intuition into science to kick down the door of how we understand the world.

?? Exciting Announcement! ?? On February 8th, 2025, I’ll be stepping onto the iconic TED stage in Providence to deliver a talk that’s deeply personal, yet universally resonant. I would be honored if you joined me on this day. But before that pivotal moment, I want to share a bit about how I got here. Nearly a year ago, my leadership coach posed a challenge that caught me off guard—"Why not do a TED Talk?" I said I’d think about it, but here’s what I didn’t say out loud—I was afraid. It wasn’t the public speaking I feared. I’ve spoken to audiences before. What I feared was falling short. What if my words didn’t land? What if my message wasn’t compelling enough? My fear wasn’t rooted in ability but in a limiting mindset I’d come to know well—all-or-nothing thinking. If it wasn’t perfect, I told myself, it would be a failure. Here’s the thing—I’ve seen this same distortion in so many of the community and social impact leaders I’ve coached through the years. Often, these fears stem from the wounds we’ve carried throughout our lives. But over time, I’ve learned that our wounds hold immense wisdom. They don’t just define us—they teach us. And when we choose to lean into healing, those very wounds can lead us to our greatest growth. I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Froswa' Booker for guiding me as I explored my relationship with these wounds and chose the tough but rewarding path of healing. On that TED stage, my hope is to inspire anyone who hears my words to rethink their own stories. To see their wounds not as burdens, but as sources of wisdom. To use the lessons within those scars to ignite healing and purpose. If you’ve ever wrestled with self-doubt or battled the weight of perfectionism, this talk is for you. If you aspire to transform pain into power, this space is for you. I hope to see you there. Together, we’ll explore the path from woundedness to wisdom and the extraordinary potential on the other side. #TEDx #Leadership #Healing #CommunityImpact #Fearless

Human Change coalition member, Gaia Bernstein, in a talk for TEDX discusses the intentionally addictive design of technology and how user behaviour is manipulated by companies for profit. As a result children are spending an excessive amount of time online - an average of 8 hours a day. Parents are often left with feelings of guilt and helplessness but Professor Bernstein encourages us to shift these emotions and channel them into collective action. Human Change is happening now; we're witnessing a devastating youth mental health crisis and a changing nature of human relationships and connection. We must act now to combat digital addiction and safeguard future generations. https://lnkd.in/eyH4ey-2

I am thrilled to share with you that today my TEDx talk (based on my book Unwired and?personal experience) went LIVE on the TED Youtube channel. Many of us and especially parents often blame ourselves for time spent on screens, while the real problem is the tech’s industry’s intentionally addictive designs. In my talk, I describe another way out of living lives of ever escalating screen time. I very much hope you will watch this video and if it resonates with you, please leave a comment or a like on the YouTube Video and share it with others. This will increase the talk’s visibility on TED’s website and carry the message to more people. Here is the link to the talk: https://lnkd.in/e4zkhkst

As I research and plan by stump speech for Pathways to Politics for Women I have been stupidly delighted by the process. While I am scared shitless and full of regret about the actual stump speech itself, the process of reading, watching and listening to smart humans who have incredible ideas about reimagining society has been nothing short of a delight. Having to sit with my ideas and my values, and consider my own 'big idea' when I'm very much used to sitting in the seat of amplifying other folks' ideas has been confronting and truly uncomfortable. But the expansion of the research is an experience I'll be grateful for, forever. Some of my fave revelations and crystalising of my thoughts have come from the work of Kohei Saito and his book on Degrowth Communism and the work of Brett Hennig and his book, The End of Politicians: Time for a Real Democracy. So far, my guiding principles are a 100 Year Plan, a three-day workweek, and frugal abundance, flipping society’s KPIs, away from endless growth and wealth, toward something more meaningful: Quality of Life. The 100 Year Plan explores redesigning life at a sustainable pace. It’s about embracing change as renewal and planning for generations to come. Instead of personality-driven elections, imagine a citizens’ assembly—ordinary people, guided by experts, coming together to decide policies. I still have absolutely no idea where this course will take me, but I'm grateful for my ability to say yes to things that scare the shit out of me. Recommend taking a squiz at Brett Hennig's TED Talk exploring citizen assemblies...love to hear your thoughts on it.
