Why We Use 4-20mA Signals Instead of 0-20mA In instrumentation, we often use the 4-20mA current loop to send signals. But why do we choose 4-20mA instead of 0-20mA? The KEY REASON is that 4-20mA helps us know if everything is working properly. The 4mA level shows that the system is active, even when the measurement is at its lowest. If we used 0-20mA, a signal of 0mA COULD MEAN two things: either there’s no measurement or there’s a problem with the system. This can be confusing and could lead to mistakes. Using 4-20mA also helps reduce interference from electrical noise, making our measurements more accurate. It allows us to detect small changes in the process, which is important in many industries. In simple terms, the 4-20mA signal is more reliable and safer for monitoring and controlling processes. Did you know this? Well, you will hard get these in books. Great day for all !!, wishing the best in your life !! .. now, talking about turbomachinery, we can say about structural resonance in turbomachinery, such as compressors, gas turbines, and steam turbines, represents a critical challenge that can adversely affect the performance and lifespan of these machines. Resonance occurs when a component’s natural frequency matches the operational vibration frequencies, amplifying oscillations and potentially causing significant or catastrophic structural damage. To anticipate and mitigate these effects, it is essential to conduct a thorough analysis (including mathematic models and simulations) during the design, selection, and reviewed during the installation phases, considering both structural stiffness and potential resonance points. Additionally, continuous monitoring and predictive maintenance allow for the identification of resonance patterns throughout the equipment’s lifecycle, enabling early intervention. In industries such as oil, gas, petrochemicals, and power generation, where turbomachinery is essential, effectively managing structural resonance contributes to improved performance, reliability, safety and productivity of industrial processes globally. Do you know that we recently completed the largest well instrumentation project of its kind in North America? Featuring multiple GEOQ Quartzdyne gauges in every well alongside Silixa - Oil and Gas Unconventionals DTS, DAS, & DSS fiber optics, this entire pad has been instrumented on the back-side of the casing to provide unprecedented insights into the performance and characteristics of this complex reservoir in northeast British Columbia! Across all 7 wells, our team successfully landed nearly 40 gauges and thousands of meters of fiber optics. These systems are delivering highly valuable real-time data both during the frac, and now during production for the life of the well! Through strategic planning and careful execution, we were able to design a system which delivers the critical data our customer needs and survived being deployed on the outside of casing in highly deviated wells which were then perforated!! This feat is not only something we are very proud of! But it also marks a significant point in our industry as this science pad will provide data which will transform the development of resources not only in the Montney and Duvernay, but in similar complex reservoirs around the world.
