There is much talking about the need to keep #digital #ecosystems *open* to foster competition and competitiveness and make the digital economy thrive. But what are open ecosystems, really? When is an ecosystem open and what benefits and challenges does an open ecosystem bring about? On May 22, our director, prof. Carmelo Cennamo, will discuss some of the principles and issues of open ecosystems in a workshop organized by Euractiv and CODE, drawing on his recent article "Open Ecosystems: Benefits, Challenges, and Implications for Antitrust", coauthored with prof. _______Tech Week 2024 Recap: Service Day Highlights!_______ As an Infrastructure Engineer, one of the tasks my team and I were charged with was ensuring the NIHUB infrastructure could handle the surge in traffic it was going to experience on the last day of #TechWeek without compromising service delivery. I'm excited to share some of the robust performance metrics from the final day of Tech Week 2024. Our infrastructure handled a significant load efficiently and effectively, here's a glimpse of what we accomplished: ??? Over 50 software applications were requested and processed. ??? Resolved over 100 client issues encompassing both software and hardware. ?? Utilized 1Tb+ of internet data to download and locally store the requested software on the NIHUB servers within a 12-hour period. ?? Completed over 100 software installations. ?? Executed over 20 Windows OS upgrades and reinstalls. ?? Stored over 40 software packages on the NIHUB servers, necessitating a 10% increase in storage capacity. ?? Achieved an average file transfer rate of 120Mb/s over Ethernet connections. ?? Maintained an average file transfer rate of 40Mb/s over WiFi serving numerous client devices simultaneously. ?? Sustained an average internet speed of 100Mb/s via WiFi, supporting over 100 devices. ?? Provided an average internet speed of 330Mb/s over Ethernet, serving 24 devices. ??1Tb of internet used by over 150 client devices during the period of the event ?? Ensured zero downtime before, during, and after the event. These metrics underscore the resilience and efficiency of our infrastructure. Our team worked tirelessly to ensure seamless service, and these metrics highlight our commitment to excellence and reliability.
