Well according to the The Quantum Insider, companies have been working on "technical approaches that can make these metropolitan networks as long as possible without using any repeaters. And Terra Quantum has just demonstrated one of the longest distances we have seen of 1707 kilometers with their Quantum-Protected Control-Based Key Distribution (QCKD) protocol that utilizes physical control over signal losses." Telecom testbeds cover a wide scope in quantum communications development. Recently Numana announced it was launching "its first quantum communication network by optical fiber in Sherbrooke, in partnership with the Gouvernement du Québec – Carrières and Bell, and in collaboration with the Distriq, Zone d'innovation quantique de Sherbrooke", ID Quantique and others allowing businesses to experiment with new quantum technologies for telecom networks, without disrupting existing infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/gyXq265S The future is coming ever closer, in this case in the form of quantum communications & telecommunications. D-Wave, a leader in quantum computing systems, and NTT DOCOMO, Japan's largest mobile service provider, announced the results of a pilot project showcasing the application of quantum optimization technology to enhance mobile network performance. The project demonstrated a 15% reduction in signal congestion across base stations by decreasing paging signals during peak calling times. D-Wave's hybrid solver was able to process the optimization task in just 40 seconds, compared to 27 hours with a general-purpose solver. This significant reduction in processing time highlights the potential of quantum computing to improve efficiencies and lower costs in the telecommunications industry. 'This collaboration marks an important step in applying and further integrating quantum computing in telecommunications,' said a spokesperson from D-Wave. Juan wrote the v0.0 WAVE specification, and was instrumental in organizing the WAVE Consortium. and setting a new course for the industry's move towards waveform virtualization. As the Chief Alignment Officer at Alignment Consulting and Engineering, he provides consulting in digital transformation strategies for SATCOM businesses. His other contributions include advancing waveform virtualization at ATG, LLC and authoring the influential 2022 report: Digital Transformation of SATCOM, which has helped codify the vision of digitization and virtualization. A former senior researcher at Comtech Satellite Network Technologies Dr. Deaton's work spanned Forward Error Correction Technologies, anti-jam waveforms, and more.?Dr. Deaton holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from Virginia Tech, and a BSEE from the University of Idaho.
