Speaking for NATO will cover cooperation with ???? on many issues, including new dangers linked to cyber, hybrid or space, and to strengthen our transatlantic partnership. To address evolving threats and challenges, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO SG Rutte agreed to set up a new high-level task force to strengthen the existing ????-NATO cooperation. The EU in the next five years will be focused on building a true European Defence Union. Member States will always retain responsibility for their own troops, from doctrine to deployment, but there is a lot Europe can do to support and coordinate efforts to strengthen the defence industrial base, innovation and the Single Market. To frame the new approach and to identify our investment needs the European Commission will present a White Paper on the Future of European Defence before mid-March 2025. Central to this work will be strengthening the EU-NATO partnership.

What do we love about working with you?? As former news and current affairs journalists we built careers on telling important stories.? But we were constantly on the run - rushing from deadline to deadline, story to story.? Now, we get to spend the day with you, learn about your important work and how it impacts all of us - but without having to turn it into a 90 second story for the 6pm news or a radio bulletin or get anything signed off by the legal team. #storytelling #nz #communications

Recently, the?Society of Professional Journalists?issued a statement condemning public information officers/ PR pros (link below) who prohibit journalists from speaking to staff members, making it difficult to uncover important stories. The SPJ is correct; PR professionals have an ethical responsibility to be honest and transparent. When they obstruct honest journalists because they dislike a story, they become part of the problem. PR professionals have a responsibility to be honest and transparent when advising organizations and must allow journalists reasonable access to their staff members. Discussion Questions: 1. As a PR professional, have you ever been asked to stonewall a reporter or keep them from speaking to organization staff? How did you handle it? 2. If legitimate reasons exist to decline an interview, what steps would you take to maintain the relationship with the media? Link to SPJ statement: https://lnkd.in/eefGdsgp

Media Relations Tip: Always treat all reporters with equal respect, regardless of the size of the news organization where they currently work. The reporter at the local community paper or small business journal might one day wind up at a major daily or even later at a national media outlet. If you treat such a person poorly or disregard their deadlines early in their career, do you think they won't remember that later? Kindness and respect go a long way in all relationships, including those with reporters.
