This week, we had a fun, meaningful time with Feeding Tampa Bay, where 16 TD SYNNEX co-workers (along with our friends at the Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Rowdies) sorted through more than 16,000 pounds of donated food. Those 16,000 pounds equate to 13,530 meals that will help those dealing with food insecurity in the Tampa Bay area ??? #PowerOfUs
TowerCares Foundation recently donated $20,000 to local food banks: $5,000 each was provided to Anne Arundel County Food Bank, Capital Area Food Bank, and Howard County Food Bank; and, $1,000 each was given to Caring Cupboard, Celestial Manna, Community Crisis Center, Meals on Wheels Central Maryland, and NCEON.?#towercares?#towerstrong
In our 2023 Annual Report, we take a look at trends at FISH over the past few years, particularly comparing pre-pandemic numbers to today. What we are seeing is continued growth in need, as the high cost of living paired with fewer support resources adds more and more strain for families. One area in which we have seen considerable increases is the pounds of food we distribute each year. In 2023, FISH distributed 1,560,603 pounds of food, more than any other year in our history as an organization. Our marketplace could not run without the generous support of our community. We source food from four main sources: donations from our Broomfield grocery stores and restaurant partners, Community Food Share, in-kind donations from our neighbors (which includes food drives!), and purchased food made possible by our incredible donors and by grant funding. All of these support networks allow us to stock a variety of food and personal care items for our families so they can shop for what their families need. This year at Christmas, SRL has chosen to support Give Food, a UK charity that’s making a tangible difference by combining data with action to address local and structural food insecurity. Through their innovative approach, they can track and showcase the impact of donations in real terms. For example, the funds from SRL can: Deliver 1 to 1.1 tonnes of food and supplies and provide a detailed online dashboard showing the weight, number of items, and calories donated, along with maps of food bank locations receiving the supplies. Every penny counts. With 100% of donations going directly to food and supplies, their transparency and efficiency are helping make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Wakefern Food Corp. has always been equal parts heart ?? and ambition. So, with the close of the successful 2024 Wakefern Showcase, we were proud to partner with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and donate nearly four trucks of fresh foods and groceries from the Showcase supermarket displays. These donated items will help as many as 20,000 families in our region.
