To most of us, a bed is something that we cozy into each night... for the families that we are serving, this is something that they cannot even imagine, that they would be able to get off the floor and into a bed. Beds are one of the most critical items we provide, bringing comfort, security, and dignity to families emerging from crisis. Right now, we have a backlog of families who desperately need beds—a place for their children to sleep safely and comfortably. If you were to visit our warehouse today, you’d see rows of beds, but here’s the reality: every single one of them is already spoken for. We're grateful for the generous donations we receive, but the need far outweighs what we currently have. For every one bed we give, we get a request for 3 more... and we’re struggling to meet that demand. ?? Why are we sharing this with you? ?? Every dollar you donate goes directly to helping us fill in the gaps—ensuring that when we’re short on key items, we can purchase them to meet a family’s immediate needs. ?Some weeks, we may have plenty of mattresses but no bed frames. ?Other weeks, we may have an abundance of sofas but not enough dressers. ?One week, we could have 10 dining tables but zero chairs to go with them. ?? Urgent Need Alert: Help Us Fill the Gap! ?? So far, 21 out of our 52 partners have already submitted their core product orders for next Thursday's distribution day. But here's the challenge: we need to support 517 children with size six diapers and 330 kids with pull-ups—items that are often not donated and must be purchased to meet our monthly needs. Each child will receive 25 size 6 diapers or 25 pull-ups. When bought by the pallet, these cost about 25 cents each. To meet this month's demand, we need to raise $5,294.25 for these essential items. Unlike many other programs, diaper banks in Wisconsin receive no state or federal funding. We're able to provide these crucial supplies thanks to the generosity of individual donors, grants, sponsorships, and corporate contributions. This Diaper Need Awareness Week (September 23-29), we are asking our community to help us “Wipe Out Diaper Need” in WNC with a donation of baby wipes. This is a simple ask- one pack of disposable baby wipes- but it will have a big impact. Wipes are consistently one of our biggest requests and we often do not have enough to fill orders. Wipes are essential for families to keep their children clean, dry and healthy. Giving a pack of wipes is a practical way to help a family in our community who are struggling to afford the basics for their children. We have collection sites all over Asheville (follow our social media for the current list @babiesneedbottoms) if you want to drop them off - or you can shop our Amazon Wish List or make a financial gift.
