Here's the latest research from Out & Equal regarding how to keep and maintain queer talent in the context of widespread anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation, funded by the Wells Fargo Foundation. Is your organization following the recommended steps? If not, why not, and is that consistent with your values?

In the past few years, we’ve seen both remarkable progress and concerning setbacks when it comes to the rights of transgender individuals. As a society, we are still navigating the complexities of gender identity, acceptance, and inclusivity. For me, this issue is deeply personal—my own child is transgender. She is wonderful, funny, kind, beautiful and so damn smart. Witnessing her journey has reinforced my commitment to fostering understanding and creating spaces that are welcoming for everyone, no matter their gender identity. As we move forward, it’s essential to not only listen to the voices of the transgender community but also actively engage in learning and advocacy. One powerful way to do this is through workshops that bring together people from all walks of life to learn about trans rights, the challenges faced by trans individuals, and the ways we can be allies in making the world a more inclusive place. It is my view that often misinformation and/or lack of education is what creates hatred and biases towards the transgender community. I’m thrilled to see this workshop designed to help people better understand the issues surrounding gender identity, the unique challenges faced by trans people, and the importance of inclusivity in all areas of life, whether in the workplace, in education, or at home. Workshops like this provide crucial information, promote empathy, and encourage action on behalf of the trans community. The world (I hope) is moving toward greater understanding, but we still have a long way to go. My experience as a parent has opened my eyes to the importance of education, compassion, and action in advancing the rights of transgender individuals. For me, this isn’t just about a workshop—it’s about creating real, lasting change that can make life better for my child, and for countless others who deserve to live authentically. I encourage you to attend, engage, and learn. The more we know, the better we can support one another in the fight for equality.

Happy #PrideMonth ??. Continuing in my reflection as a queer researcher, this week I'm addressing some really low hanging fruit for improving your surveys for the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community. I'm by no means an expert and am open to hearing about some of the ways you're evolving your own practice to improve the survey experience this pride month! #insights #prideinresearch #customerinsights #marketresearch

As #pridemonth comes to an end, it's important to remember that #diversity remains a significant topic in many areas, including #clinicaltrials, where too many people are invisible. We need to ensure everyone is represented and has the same opportunity to benefit from medical progress. Read more about diversity in clinical trials here: https://lnkd.in/erYSU5db

While I am still soaked in the endorphin of completing all my IGCSE exams, I'd like to discuss an important issue in our community. Specifically, the minority stress faced by #LGBTQIA+ individuals in their daily lives. Some of my peers have bravely shared both positive and challenging experiences of identifying as part of the LGBTQIA+ community or being an ally. It's crucial to recognize that as a #minoritygroup, they often face #discrimination, #prejudice and other #stressors - as evidenced by considerable scientific research like the #MinorityStressModel and Multiple Minority Stress and LGBT Community Resilience among Sexual Minority Men (McConnell, Janulis, Phillips, Truong, & Birkett, 2018). While acceptance and support are growing significantly, there is still work to be done in creating truly safe and nurturing environments. As it is #PrideMonth, I wanted to share two useful resources for supporting the mental well-being of Hong Kong's LGBTQIA+ population: - This community directory from Mind HK lists local services and resources available: https://lnkd.in/d9j3ZeUd - A video I created for my former secondary school two years ago introduces the concept of active listening - a critical tool for providing non-judgmental support so others feel heard during difficult times. https://lnkd.in/dDTqQuyn As allies, continuing to educate ourselves and offer compassionate support are small but important ways to make progress on this important issue. Did you know? There are over 1.6 million trans, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals across the United States. They're parents, coworkers, neighbors, and friends. They come from diverse racial, ethnic, and faith backgrounds. Despite progress, they still face challenges. Extremist legislators are pushing hateful agendas, and fatal violence, especially against Black and Brown trans women, persists. Today, let's celebrate and uplift all trans and non-binary individuals. Let's fight against discrimination, disinformation, and hate. Together, we can create a world where everyone is accepted and celebrated for who they are. https://lnkd.in/gyRq7tXD #TransRightsAreHumanRights #LGBTQ+ #Equality ?????
