The GPPS Chania24 Technical Conference has officially begun, with Prof. Alessandro Corsini delivering the opening statement. His speech set the tone for the event, introducing the theme and ethos that will guide the discussions over the next three days in Crete. The Technical sessions commenced with a panel discussion on Sustainable Power Generation chaired by Bernhard Winkelmann with panelists with perspectives from both academia and industry. The discussions were topical and lively, demonstrating the conference's focus on bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application.

Our 3 ‘’founding fathers’’ ~ or ‘’founding brothers’’? They were regulators in Italy, Spain and Portugal. My respect for these 3 is immense! Academics should not believe, and not claim, that all verifiable and verified knowledge is manufactured from their heads, or their libraries. Both practionners and academics are co-producing that: Energy regulation and energy policy making are, as area of knowledge, co-produced.

It's been a long time since I last published anything. I'm happy to be part of the team publishing a short paper for the ICORES 2024 conference in February! https://lnkd.in/dtRiEex6 Watch for our short paper, "Toward Pareto-Optimal Investment Mix to Achieve Carbon Neutrality: A Case Study" to be published in the proceedings of ICORES 2024. Learn how #optimization #modeling can help with campus #decarbonization efforts, and offer pathways to optimal #investment mixes by an institution. Our model considers #renewableenergy generation and #energystorage technologies, #energyconservation methods, energy billing, and the interplay among those modalities - and offers some surprising suggestions. Our case study focuses on opportunities at George Mason University but lessons can be adapted to other institutions, corporations, and campuses.
