We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with Blackfeet Community College (BFCC), creating pathways for students and employees to pursue fully online degrees while staying connected to their community. For WGU alum Skye Gilham, a proud member of the Blackfeet Tribe, this collaboration is deeply personal. Skye, a BFCC STEM instructor and WGU Distinguished Graduate Award recipient, uses her education to preserve Blackfeet traditions and mentor young leaders. “Education isn’t just about degrees,” Skye shared. “It’s about strengthening our community, preserving our history, and creating opportunities for the next generation.” This partnership reflects WGU’s commitment to expanding access to higher education in tribal communities while honoring their unique heritage. ?? This program teaches an important survival skill - how to swim! Way to go Loyola swimming and diving!
Volunteers from Loyola University Maryland Men and Women's Swim Teams have been making a splash in the community for over 10 years! The H2O Hounds Program is a free swim lesson initiative based at our Fitness and Aquatic Center for area youth. Youth are provided free swim gear and swag bags. We're proud to have enrolled 30 youth from Govans Elementary, Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle schools, and the Dewees and Northwood Recreation Centers. Today marked the end of the season, and we're grateful for the leadership of swimmers Patrick Hayburn and Remi Shaw, as well as the efforts of our Transform Mid-Atlantic AmeriCorps VISTA member Cierra B. and team member Chevera McClean. Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of our local youth! #communityimpact #youthengagement

?? Today, we have a unique chance to make a meaningful impact and help #CloseTheGap in education for our Achievers at Friends of the Children NY. Why does your support matter? Consider this: there’s an 18-point gap in math proficiency between eighth graders from low-income backgrounds and their more affluent peers. This isn’t just a number—it’s a reflection of the obstacles our Achievers work tirelessly to overcome every day. Take Hunter, for example. With the guidance of his mentor, he transformed his struggles in the classroom into triumphs, earning a spot on the academic honor roll. Moments like these change lives, building confidence and paving the way for brighter futures. This Giving Tuesday, join us to help #CloseTheGap in education for our Achievers! Your support empowers young people like Hunter, a bright first grader who faced challenges with classroom behavior and academics. With the guidance of his Friend, Henry, and a collaborative plan involving his teacher and mother, Hunter transformed his struggles into successes. Through consistent mentorship, interactive learning, and encouragement, Hunter not only improved his behavior but also earned a spot on the academic honor roll—a milestone that boosted his confidence and set him on a path to future achievements. Hunter’s story is just one example of how Friends of the Children empowers youth to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. With the help of professional mentors, we’re closing opportunity gaps and fostering brighter futures for children facing systemic barriers. Donate today and help Achievers thrive! ?? Join us in creating more stories like Hunter’s. Together, we can empower the next generation of leaders. Read Hunter's Story and make your gift today!

One of the fun things I get to do is to bounce around the country visiting leaders of various kinds of nonprofit institutions (under the guise of "checking in with our clients"). This week, one of those institutions was a new and particularly exciting one: Ralston College in Savannah, Georgia, led by Dr. Stephen Blackwood. I met President Blackwood in a building facing lovely Forsyth Park, just one of the beautiful old structures the school is inhabiting, or readying to inhabit, as it prepares for significant growth. It's true that not every organization has--or needs to have--a big vision. But Ralston has a massive vision. And it has a leader in Blackwood who, when he shares that vision, comes off as totally believable. His goal is to "revive and reinvent the traditional university." In contradistinction to most mainstream universities today, where the implicit motto seems to be "to think is to make yourself unsafe," Ralston's motto is "to think is to be free." Sounds like just what we need. While a number of wonderful Christian colleges have been founded along these lines over the past several decades, almost no non-faith-based colleges with Ralston's perspective have come into being of late. Right now, Ralston's lone degree program is a one-year M.A. in the humanities. (You can get a taste of what Ralston offers by checking out its online lectures and podcast.) The M.A. program starts with a crash course in Greek--in Greece. Students return to Savannah to finish out the academic year. When Blackwood and I popped in one of the school's lovely buildings, a group of students were practicing for their performance of A Comedy of Errors later in the week. An undergraduate program is in the offing. With the location in Savannah, and with the influential Jordan Peterson in place as chancellor (I guess I buried the lede), it's hard to see how Ralston won't be a smashing success. #Nonprofit #EducationLeadership #AcademicExcellence

EMPOWERING LIVES THROUGH FOOTBALL At The Frannberry Foundation, we believe in providing more than just quality education to underprivileged children. We are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals by offering extracurricular activities that inspire growth, resilience, and creativity. We are passionate about creating opportunities that go beyond the classroom. Education is the foundation, but activities like sports help build character, resilience, and a sense of purpose in children, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. As part of our extracurricular programme, football is already making a difference - The Frannberry Football Academy. Shown in the picture below are three young boys from underprivileged backgrounds. Football, a sport that unites people across the globe, is more than just a game for these children—it is an opportunity to dream, build teamwork, and develop discipline. It is a doorway to self-discovery, growth, and a brighter future. Football is a universal language. It has a unique ability to break barriers, instill values, and inspire dreams. It teaches critical life skills such as leadership, collaboration, and resilience. For these boys. It’s also a beacon of hope—a chance to rise above their circumstances and unlock new opportunities. Through this initiative, we aim to provide opportunities for these young talents to shine, on and off the field. Our goal is to nurture their talents while instilling values that will guide them throughout life. With every kick, pass, and goal, these children are building their futures. This is just the beginning, and we are excited about the endless possibilities this initiative holds. Together, let’s continue to support programmes that empower and uplift the next generation -we can change lives, one activity at a time. #FrannberrySchool https://lnkd.in/dbBvQKyY #TheFrannberryFoundation https://lnkd.in/dFtyTqgm #EducationForAll #FootballForChange #ChildDevelopment #FrannberryFoundation #SportsForChange #FootballAcademy #EmpoweringChildren #HolisticDevelopment #TheFrannberryFoundation #FrannberrySchool
