The 2nd edition of my book, 宇宙に命はあるのか (quest for life in space), was published a few weeks ago! https://lnkd.in/gbVErmez Despite the title, it is not just about search for life. It's a story of humanity's voyage to space, starting from Julles Vernes's imaginations 200 yrs ago, covering Goddard, von Braun, Korolev, Apollo, Voyager, Viking, and the latest Mars missions and future icy world mission concepts, and ending in the remote future when humans will evolve to Homo Astrorum. No English translation - yet. (There is a Korean translation of the 1st edition, though.) This is my 4th book (including the 1st edition). Writing a book is a LOT of work, and I always think will never do this agian when I finish writing, but once I got passionate responses from readers (particularly the young ones) I start imagining the next one. Probably 5 or 10 years later.

A new 38th year has begun on Mars On November 12, 2024, a new year began on Mars, making it the 38th year. The Martian calendar is also based on natural cycles, but is different from Earth's. One year on Mars lasts 687 Earth days, and a day (sol) is about 24 hours and 39 minutes long. The Martian new year begins at the vernal equinox because Mars' axis of rotation is tilted relative to its orbit, creating Earth-like seasons. However, the seasons on Mars vary in length due to the planet's elliptical orbit. The Martian calendar began in 1955, when a large dust storm occurred, and 1953 was defined as “year zero”. The new year on Mars in 2024 came on November 12 at 16:00 UTC. Now do what you want with that information???

The Power Of The Narrative Orators of Ancient Rome mastered the art of storytelling to influence their audience. They knew the impact of repetition, suggestions, and creating powerful mnemonics to embed their message. In today's world, narratives continue to shape our beliefs and perceptions. Stories have a unique way of appealing to our emotions and biases, making them more persuasive than cold, hard facts. It's essential to enjoy the drama of a story but to approach it with skepticism until validated by reliable information. While stories may be captivating, as adults, we must seek more than just narratives. Critical thinking and a quest for factual information are essential in discerning between fiction and reality. #Narratives #Storytelling #CriticalThinking #Facts #Beliefs

Excerpt from Amanda Gorman, Our Purpose in Poetry: Or, Earthrise 2018 “Just as we chose to go to the moon We know it’s never too soon To choose hope. We choose to do more than cope With climate change We choose to end it— We refuse to lose. Together we do this and more Not because it’s very easy or nice But because it is necessary, Because with every dawn we carry the weight of the fate of this celestial body orbiting a star. And as heavy as that weight sounded, it doesn’t hold us down, But it keeps us grounded, steady, ready, Because an environmental movement of this size Is simply another form of an earthrise.” Read more about the emergence of the word Earthrise, what it represents and how it sunk into popular consciousness on our lexicon at climatewords.org ??
